and for a simple response, its an urban myth that keeping your shoes in wrap can harm the leather.
this is only true, in my opinion, if the shoe is in any way at all heated up, while wrapped up....

who knows though!

i heard that wrapping them tight like that in that wrap will lock out all moisture and dry out the midsole completely. and if for some reason you broke thewrap open they would crumble like sand.

I doubt they'd crumble like sand by simply opening the wrap but you definitely wouldn't want to wear them....as I'm sure the posterdoesn't.
