Is there a any possible realistic price point Nike would be able to sell these at if they were released non auction style??

Just want to hear what everyone thinks is a fair price point if they were released via NDC
easy $2000 drop for me even if it's made as a GR.

the autolacing feature is
nah, the bottle never made it live. I'm sure pepsi still gonna use the same link (backdoor) and the people that had the link are gonna eat again as soon as pepsi makes changes to the link. Gonna be gone before pepsi even tweets it or makes the link live.

They were never going to be for sale on the Pepsi website today, only Amazon and Walmart.

Pepsi linked to the Amazon page.

This upcoming release will be sold on Pepsi's website.

backdoor link? i didn't think any were sold via the pepsi site (which seems like it'll be the case for november)

$500.

And I wouldn't be willing to pay that. For me, there's more important things in life than shoes.

I had the backdoor links to the accessory pages while they were putting up the all these items http://shop.pepsi.com/dept/accessories?cp=68923_80204

I was watching them put each one up around 9am central. Got the link from my page monitor. Everything was live and available to purchase but you couldn't access it from the regular site because they were still adding more merch up.

I was watching these two links separately

Nike dropped the ball today BIG TIME

the one day in history that you have to be ready for, and they send Fox a pair with a hand written note smh

WACK

This day should've been one of the biggest in Nike history but it was dull...why release the shoe next year in 2016 when it should've been released today....dummies

This proves a lot on Nike part....

They NEVER deliver on what they say.

They could careless about buyers!

In back to the future Mike J fox had mags on today ! Not in 2016

I think Nike cares more about funding the Michael J Fox Foundation with millions of dollars and helping raise awareness about Parkinson's than they do about selling shoes to a bunch of kids - the majority of whom would resell the shoes anyway.

And I see NO problem with that. Sneaker game is all messed up. Good on Nike for trying to do something positive.

nike doesn't give a damn about parkinson's either. they care about sustaining the hype to ensure future profits. that's all this is about, really. and it's just icing they get to bask in some good publicity with the whole MJF parkinson's research tie in, so it's def a win win for nike. they are good at trying to tie in stories and causes to appear like they care, but i ain't buying it.

The future is soon: Nike announces 2016 'power laces' limited release

Nike said Wednesday that it would release a limited amount of pairs of shoes with "power laces" next spring. The announcement comes on the same date that Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled into the future in the 1989 film "Back to the Future Part II."

The exact amount of shoes available, which will be auctioned off, was not disclosed but the beneficiary once again will be the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The latest edition of the shoe senses when the wearer steps in it and the laces tighten around his or her foot as the Nike logo on the tongue illuminates.

Nike CEO Mark Parker presented the first pair on Wednesday to Fox, who was expected to debut them on the "Jimmy Kimmel Show."

The foundation, set up by the actor who played Marty, received $9.4 million in donations thanks to a 10-day auction in 2011 where 1,500 pairs were auctioned on eBay. Sales of the shoes generated $4.7 million and that then was matched by Google co-founder Sergei Brin and his wife.

The shoes Nike will sell next year are different from the 2011 version in that those shoes just had lights. The most paid for a pair of those shoes was $37,500, which was purchased by British rapper Tinie Tempah.

Nike sneakerheads and "Back To The Future" trilogy buffs got excited when it was revealed that Nike filed for an extensive patents to self-lacing shoes in both 2009 and 2013.

While Nike started doing this as a fun project, Parker said that reinventing the conventional lacing system could be applied to future product.

"We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a technology that will benefit all athletes," Parker said in a release.

And once again. We're all Magless **** Nike. They could've at least released 2,015 pair for $375 each (even if they were pairs that didn't self lace) and raffled them with their raffling system so that some people who can't afford $2500 on a pair of shoes could get their hands on a pair and auctioned off the self lacing pairs.

It's not about what you want.

The shoes raise huge amounts of money and attention for a cause and Foundation. In the grand scheme of things, that would be something a lot more important than making sure all the sneaker heads get their "fair" shot.

Stop whining that Nike isn't setting aside anything that you can afford. Every pair made has a chance to raise an extra $3k+ for a great cause - probably even the non-power laced ones - and they're not going to forgo that so dudes who feel entitled to a "fair" chance at a "fair" price can get theirs.

Nike has made these shoes about a cause. They're going to be forever tied to finding a cure to Parkinson's (and will probably never be available at retail). And while disappointing to a lot of those who want the shoe, you can't fault the reasons for keeping the majority "Magless."

As for the idea of making the shoes available at retail then doing a donation on their own: that's taking away a lot of the publicity for the Foundation that's being tied to the auctions, and the dollar amount Nike would commit to would likely be less than the $4.3m from the 2011 auction (they weren't even the ones to match that to bring the total to $9.6m, remember).

well, it may just be time to give up on these. I could prolly save up and sell stuff and get a pair, but my opinion is unchanged from 2011, its just too darn much to spend on a pair of shoes, even the mags.

hopefully the chinese replica makers will make theirs more accurate, then id just grab those and call it.

30 years nike. you had one job for today and you blew it...

sigh.

I had a feeling something like this would happen. It wouldn't make since to auction off glorified movie props in 2011, and not auction off pairs with power laces.  Didn't Nike say they were going to do something for the buyers from the original auction? In any event, I can't justify blowing new car money on a pair of shoes. Power laces or not.

Not that I wanted these regardless, but I was kinda excited to see if Nike would pull it off. Guess not...
