You can't compare the Vapors to the Mags or Hyper Adapts...those are virtually unobtainable for 99.999% of us.

Creating hype behind a shoe that is available in numerous places but limited in stock appears to be Nike's M.O. on these.

Nike Scottsdale only has one size run on the OGs and only 20 pairs of Plats for reference.
Read my post and you'll see no comparison to the vapormax at all. I was talking how Nike releases shoes as a whole with the limited tag. I used the Air Mag and Adapts as an example not as a direct compare and contrast. I can use the Lebron 14 "Out of Nowhere" colorway in which they did the same thing, sold out fast, little to no quanity, only relased to like two footlockers in the nation was auctioned on Stock Exchange etc. That brought hype to that particular shoe not the whole 14 line so far.
My actual point is creating shoes in ridiculous limited quanity will create hype for a moment but fade away quickly and Nike has been doing that. If Nike's goal is to rival boost a shoe with a better price point and more availability (I know some of them are hard to get too) there headed in the wrong direction to me personally. We've been asking Nike to make shoes less limited for years now which can be done.

Take the Jordan 11 Space Jam GR release shoe for an example, the shoe still sells out because of the demand, becomes one of Nike's best selling shoes ever. That's a perfect mix of hype, moving sells, and demand. For the record I like the vapormax, own no boost and am Nike all day. Just my two cents.

Keep in mind though that Ultra Boost went unnoticed for three months before a certain someone was seen wearing an all white pair. UB continues to sell because it's a good shoe. But people needed an introduction and for it to be legitimized.

Nike could have released Vapormax as the Air Max 2017 and it wouldn't have moved. Nike needed to generate a buzz around the model. The hype will fade out if it's not good but from what we're hearing it's comfortable. And it's only $10 more than Ultra Boost ($10 less than some UBs).

The 95 playoff 11s moved a ton of units because the hype of the limited space jam drop seven years ago never died. New hype wasn't required. Nike wasn't going to take a chance that Vapormax wouldn't catch on. They weren't going to wait months like adidas had to with UB. The hype is there now and they will release a ton of GR colorways. And they will probably sell better than any new Air Max has in 20 years.

Plus, it's entirely possible that Nike just dropped more Plats than adidas initially did with the OG UB colorway. There certainly weren't any of those in footlockers around me.

For the people who did an ID order, do your customizations show up in the shoe image in your order confirmation?  Or if you click on the shoe image or the Twitter sharing link?

I think somehow my customizations didn't get chosen while I was rushing trying to get an order in.  Well, crap.

Mine did

Ah thanks.  Damn, so it looks like I'll be getting the stock red/white/volt shoe without my customizations (volt laces, nike tongue label, text on back, airmoji).

My size sold out while I was trying to finish payment, so I scrambled to place an order for half size up, and I guess my customized version wasn't selected.  That's disappointing, but I'm still glad to be able to get this shoe in this overall colorway.

What he was saying is that you picked the worst 2 sneakers to use as an example since the Mags were donation-based raffle only & the hyperadapt was only released in certain cities through invitation only or Nike+ early access

So not a consumer sneaker that you could just have a chance to buy

And will people PLEASE stop saying Nikes goal is to rival boost. Their goal is to innovate and push forward the future of sneakers like they've been doing for 30+ years with the air max line. The Vapormax is the newest example of that
