Nike Skyposite: Pass or play?

Nike has this wonderful habit of cannibalizing their own sales and dooming new releases to failure.

I figured as much. You know something's wrong when a new foamposite release doesn't evoke a thread in the DC forum.

It's halfhearted - that's what irks me. The design is clearly half-baked, as is the execution in terms of marketing/release. It's set up to fail. Looking back on it, you all know what'll happen: suits will conclude that there's no demand for a new foamposite shoe, similar to what ensued afterthe "ultraposite" cratered. That fans want a foamposite shoe that's actually, you know, attractiveprobably won't dawn on them.
It's just not gonna work, with o.g. heads.
I thought that would be the case with the 1/2 Cents, too - but SOMEONE's been buying them. All I'm saying is, there have been an AWFULlot of Jimmy Dean wrappers littering the streets of Mecca these days. Principles go out the window in times of chaos and famine, I suppose.

When a new foam comes out, for whatever reason, it's like the club at closing time. Never mind that the classic foam models are never more than a fiscalquarter away these days.
HEY NOW!!!! that aint right.. My Virginian side represents that remark!!! Secondly.. I think the rest of NT would be jealous to know you actually started a Thread in your hometown forum which DOES NOT rip P. iss or its owner S. the Bamma Mulligan!!

But how I miss those days!!!
You know it's all in good fun. I've got nothing but love for my fam in VA.

Way back in the day, when you could count the number of Jordan retro releases on your hands, I had to start a lot of the topics on NT to keep things moving. These days, there's little need. I was rendered superfluous as a "source" back in like 2001. That said, I've started topics other thanthose intended to rip tracheas out of necks in recent years. Over in Gen Pop I'll make the donationannouncements every now and then. We did the fantasy basketball league here last year and a couple of years back I started a thread to give folk a heads up onthe demonstration re: the Supreme Court cases on affirmative action in public schools, Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District &Meredith v. Jefferson County. I don't get the sense, these days, that John Q. NT'er would be all that interested in the types of topics I mightstart.

Though ample opportunities have presented themselves, I've no interest in ripping $&M without provocation. It's the verbal equivalent of tippinglethargic cows with a bulldozer. There's no sport in it.

As with Paris/Britney et al., you're better off leaving those people to their ignorance and misery than giving them the attention they need to sustainthemselves and their comically overinflated egos. We've got better things to discuss - like the _izards offeason, which now runs 12 months a year.

i dont even wear foamposites for fashion. i dont really wear any nike basketball shoes for fashion (unless its summer and im rockin some shorts)
im a hooper, so i can care less how good a shoe looks on the court. as long as it feels good while im playing its a wrap. (of course i wouldnt wear some bumjoints though)
ive learned to differentiate between my athletic shoes and my shoes for "fashion" purposes.

pretty much this is how i look at it- if dudes could rock hyperflights back in the day... you can wear these. cause this shoe is pretty much a hyperflight witha big nike swoosh and no patent leather.

these are a terrible attempt at a posite shoe by nike. they probably think they can throw clear soles on anything and they will just sell

Given DC's posite predilection, I'm curious as to what my fellow DC folk, Marylanders, and, yes, even you Virginians think about them.

Honestly, the black pair is tempting me more than it has any right to. Something about this shoe just doesn't sit well with me - perhaps it's the keds-esque stripe on the midsole (or the sheer fact that a foamposite even has a separate midsole, given that an integrated midsole served as one of foamposite's primary beneifts), perhaps it's the equally keds-esque grommets, the Blazer influence, or the discordant articulated toe, borrowed from the Flightposite III / Air Signature Player, which gives the shoe a bit of a clownish vibe.

Apart from any of that, though, the re-re-release of the Total Air Foamposite is likely what will prevent me from purchasing the Skyposite. Nike has this wonderful habit of cannibalizing their own sales and dooming new releases to failure. You release the Foam One and Flightposite, then bring out the Foamposite Lite... only to have the Foamposite One come back out again. It's the Pete Myers effect. It's hard enough to follow a legend... and even worse when that same legend suddenly follows you.

THESE ARE GARBAGE. thank you and goodnite..

cannot go wrong with a fresh pair of duncans!!

Just got word that these dropped at HOH Chicago.

They look pretty decent to me, but I'm in no hurry to cop another all black foam-based shoe (one pair of 1/2 cents will hold me down for like 3 years). Shape-wise, they kinda remind of the Kobe IV, but high top. I do like the fact that they decided to go with the carbon fiber print all over.

^^Just thought I'd share a real pic for those who were interested. If you don't care then don't click on it. Simple as that.
