It is. These "instant estimates" fluctuate wildly. I think the standard deviation is like $150,000 at this point. When everything went through niketalk.yuku.com, estimates for niketalk.com were pitifully low. Even now, we're only credited with a portion of the traffic the site actually receives. Revenue estimates are based on some standardized CPM rate multiplied by the estimated hits. It's a joke.
Keep in mind, this is supposed to appraise a site's sale price. If NT is "worth" a half million dollars, that doesn't mean we have a half million dollars. It's like a casino chip. You don't receive the value until you literally cash out, in which case we wouldn't have the site anymore.
Idk but it'd be cool if the mods had give aways every once and a while lol
I wouldn't rule it out, but keep in mind that pretty much every giveaway conducted on a major site is sponsored.
We're pretty adamant about retaining the independent spirit of our community and IF we were to do a contest, we'd need to make sure that everything is labeled clearly and transparently so that our staff members aren't called upon to personally "endorse" any product or service. We come to NikeTalk to share GENUINE opinions. The site would lose a lot of integrity if we were putting ourselves up for sale. An advertisement in a clearly labeled space is one thing... but subverting the community for private gain is completely unacceptable.
But with left overs, they should hire a good developer to create a good mobile app.
Yuku's devs claim they're working on adding mobile functionality via "tapatalk." A month ago, I was told that was "3-4 weeks" away.
Whether you ever see mobile optimization on Yuku or not, we know a lot of people want to see it and we're trying to find a way to make it work. We're keeping our options open. Just understand that it has to make sense for the site. There's little point to paying thousands and thousands of dollars to develop something that winds up REDUCING the already slim amount of ad revenue the site receives per page view, and I don't think a lot of people would particularly like to PAY for a premium app, or to see NikeTalk sell out and do a sponsored app.
If the forum platform has developed or will develop the app/mobile version for us, then we'll do it - even if it means taking in less money. I can't, however, justify spending a small fortune that could otherwise go to charity just so we can have the privilege of reducing our ad revs. I don't blame people for wanting an app, but you have to understand the costs associated with it.
