I’ve been enjoying the post game of Odyssey more than the “required” first half of the game. If the post-game stuff was included in the first half to beat the kingdoms, I think I’d rank the game higher. I’m on darker side of the moon and I can tell this level will be a huge pain. After I beat it I might sell the game

Eh, Mario Maker 2's inclusion of 3D World theme made me change my view on the game............to the point where I dismiss comparing 3D World with other 3D Mario games, because 3D World on its own is literally a great "2D-esque Mario game" AND it'd be unfair to put down 3D World just because it is NOT a Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy or Odyssey type 3D game.
But yeah, different strokes I guess

I finished Astral Chain right at 21 hours. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn't really have any expectations for it but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I had some complaints but nothing that was a deal breaker. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.

I still haven't picked Astral Chain up. I want to get River City Girls and Final Fantasy VIII first. Might hold out for the birthday and see who wants to donate it to the kid.

3d world was mediocre but odyssey was a top 5 Mario game???
honestly IMO if you didn't like 3d world you didn't like Mario 1-world. odyssey was bare bones...especially compared to 3d world. 3d world had way more content, better levels, better level design, actual options as far as characters, better enemies, better music...it was just a better game.
odyssey had like two things going for it. Mario's moveset and...being able to change outfits. ok one more, the Mario 1 retro levels. that's it. literally everything else was mediocre or trash. that's why I said what I said earlier. enough gimmicks, put Mario back in the mushroom kingdom and dinosaur land. these new enemies/bosses are wack, the music is wack, post game is wack, etc.
the best 5 levels in 3d world >>>>>>>>> anything in odyssey IMO.
post game 3d world is a dope as the special world in smw.

3d world introduced beat blocks, time clocks (instead of berries like in Mario world), the cat suit, brought back the tanooki suit, introduced the boomerang bros suit, double cherries, you had the "race" obstacle levels, it resurrected dope ghost houses, etc.
the music was fire compared to anything after it and is somewhat comparable to what came before it IMO.
depth perception is the only real issue with 3d world but by playing through the game one can overcome that.
the mystery houses were fire and the last one is a perfect way to end them.
we're not even going to bring up the toad levels. it wouldn't be fair.
the multiple secret worlds where it feels like the game just won't end is fire.
the last boss fight was fire.
