Magic beat 8, 50-win West teams in the playoffs, more than Lebron has done his entire career including the Finals. The disparity is glaringly obvious:

From 80-89: 25 West teams won 50 games vs 35 East teams.

From 06-15: 55 East teams won 50 games vs 27 East teams.

So 25 vs 27 with 12 teams in a conference vs 16 today which should water down the competition even more.

It's been conceded that the West in the 80's was the weaker conference partly due to the unbalanced number of teams, expansion, and realignment of one of the West's most formidable teams the Bucks to the East during that period. But the disparity clearly was not as bad as it is now especially when Magic was able to beat better competition on the way to the Finals as well as beat the best from the other conference 5 times.

Sure it'll be a footnote to you who had Bron #2 all time I believe, but for those who keep touting his consecutive Finals appearances like it's such an accomplishment while ignoring the competition he's going up against, well it's proving to not be that impressive especially if he keeps losing in the Finals in spectacular fashion.
impressive to lj fans only, people who are objective and can see it for what it is know the real deal.

Do buffalo bills fans still brag about making 4 consecutive superbowls... I've seen people reply that the stat showin victories against 50 plus win teams is silly or ppl just trying to throw shade but nobody has explained why its not accurate or how its silly....

I don't know how bad the West was in the 80's to that extent but i Highly doubt that Magic played 7 Teams .500 or below in his tenure
Uhh, he played 10.

'81 Rockets

'84 Kings

'84 Suns

'85 Suns

'86 Spurs

'87 Nuggets

'87 Sonics

'88 Spurs

'89 Blazers

'90 Rockets

Not including the teams who made it by the skin of their teeth at 42-40 like the '85 Blazers and '87 Warriors.

The '87 Lakers were one Warriors loss away from their ENTIRE path to the Finals being .500 or below:

1st round: 37-45 Nuggets

2nd round: 42-40 Warriors

Conf. Finals: 39-43 Sonics

Combined record: 118-128.

People then just generally didn't have a weird need to discredit everything Magic did the way they currently do with LeBron.

Big difference is from 1980 to 1984, there were only 2 series' before the Finals.

There was also like 22 teams in all of basketball during that era. IE, fewer teams to even reach 50 wins.

Magic still reached 13 series wins over 50+ win teams, and his 5 titles, and he did it in a shortened career. He retired at 31, right where Bron will be in 6 months.

Magic played in 39 Playoff series from 1980-91. This will be Bron's 33rd.

When is one of y'all gonna bring some of that up?

I have to do everything around here? :lol

I'm reppin JD because at least he goes back and reviews actual facts. Good stuff man. (surprised the 89 Blazers are on that list, truly. )

Big difference is magic has a winning record in the finals... Lj does not. Facts are facts.you best believe if magic was 3-6 in the finals he would have gotten plenty of "shade" or "hate "

Debatable, but let's see how Bron's career ends and then we can go in on that. He's still got plenty of years left to try and win rings.

realistically...if born goes 2-4 this year...what happens to his legacy? is the dream over?

I stand corrected in that matter... People then also didn't have the weird need to ascend players past legends before they deserved it. It took Kobe/Duncan 5 rings for people to even consider them being top 5, yet somehow Lebron is suppose to be unanimously in the convo despite not accomplishing what the others in those groups did?

the comp and the amount of monumental losses he's taken in comparison to the others leaves a BIG GAP yet somehow people want to push that aside.

Also if we have these stats on Bron & Magic and see those numbers... shouldnt guys like Mike & Kobe be held in an even higher regard considering they have literally trippled those numbers?

In what stats category besides rings has Kobe or Mike tripled Lebron. I'd love to know.

The GOAT ship sailed in 2011 against DAL. He loses again this year, he can't get into that Kobe, Shaq, Duncan tier for me. Another finals appearance next year won't mean a damn thing.

Nobody brings up Jerry west when talking about the goats....never see him in anyones top 5 ...

None of us saw him play.

That includes me, you animals, shut your filthy mouths and your lame jokes. Stop.

How does that make him free of slander?

What can we slander? He's the damn logo of the league, but not a single one of us ever watched him ball, once.

All I know is he faced the Celtics on the reg, and always came up short. He somehow won Finals MVP, in a series he lost, which is either scary impressive, or weird voters back in the day.

I also know he never won MVP of the league.

Other than that., I know him more as a GM than I do a player. How can I shade him?
