Live sports is the Achilles heel.
It will be interesting to see if companies will start capping unlimited data or raising internet prices though.
Also you can get a HD antenna for like $20 bucks and get the free local channels...
Quite frankly this is all you neeedXBMC
Didnt even know such a thing existedI dont have cable. This is what I have for the NBA, its 1000x better than league pass.
Ballsteams.com--- paid $70 for the year and it has every single NBA game in HD, you can DVR it, watch replays, pause it, watch on mobile devises, ipad, etc. Also it has both the AWAY and HOME feeds. Yes that means MSG is included.
For evyerthing else, buy a jailbroken Apple TV.
Seems like the reason why all of your friends are telling you how much money they're saving on cable is because they go to your place to watch sports / TV, there only needs to be one friendYou guys have a point, but it seems like no one has brought up a strong argument for the lack of Sports.
I have a pretty big apartment and I have people come over all the time to watch games. It seems like "cutting the cord" is good for people who don't watch sports all that often.
Why would me and my friends want to go to a sports bar when we can all just chill in the living room and watch the game in a great media setup I have? Not to mention, sometimes guys like to chill on my balcony overlooking Central Park and smoke Hookah.
I guess the question now is--how do I watch live sports at home without having a cable subscription? I'll need MSG and ESPN exclusively.
You're right, I use streams a lot myself. They're getting better and better in quality, pretty soon we'll have crystal clear HD streams. And there are some kind people on sites like reddit who will host their own streams in perfect quality for free.My buddy did this to save money, he watches a lot of sports like I do. He has to go to the bars to watch big games, or go to someone else's place. Or suffer through a crappy internet stream. I imagine it's pretty annoying
It's can be annoying but it gets the job done. More often than not I'll be watching a crappy stream and be ahead of my boy who's watching it on his tv with cable. Not all the streams are crappy either. Some of them are quite good in terms of video quality. When they stop to buffer or just get shut down is super aggravating though.
Yep and when you step out every night and go to the bar, you're gonna spend money on food and drinks so if you calculate it on a monthly basis, you're pretty much paying cable pricesI cannot wait till we see the day where we can pay a la carte for cable.
I just want to subscribe to ESPN and a few other sports channels and I'm set for the rest of my life. I don't think I can ever let go of watching sports in the comfort of my own home. Going to a bar is nice and all, but who wants to step out every night for a sporting event?
