NT, convince me "cutting the cord" is a good idea

It's a wrap for cable companies as far as TVboxes are concerned if Sling is doing that. Just a matter of time. I'm out in Maryland for this project and the high speed xfinity internet and X1 cable box is stupid cheap.they don't want to lose customers :lol

I'm jealous. verizon fios outchea robbing people.

As long as the internet is not considered a public utility, Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, etc gon continue to eat because they hold the internet market. However, Alphabet stopped their hardwire fiber initiative to focus more on wifi so let's see where that goes in the next few years.

I'm trying Direct TV now only because it comes with a free apple tv. So far no issues
How are the live sports streams? Are they decent quality?

I mainly watch basketball and so far no issues. My Apple TV is connected directly to my router and my internet speed is 115Mbps download so no stutters.

I have noticed today that the A/V sync is a little off tho.

You basically paying for the AppleTv I think with the monthly payments

I was planning on getting an Apple TV anyways and instead of paying $150 plus tax, it comes out to $105 total. Direct TV is also cancel anytime so I get what I want for cheaper and get to try out the app

Smart move saves you some money and you get to try it

Bought a MI box threw kodi on that thing and subscribed to PS Vue, called Charter a couple days later and told them I don't need cable anymore just keep my internet on
Got my Mi Box the other day and did the same with Charter. Told them to shut my cable down and will save bout $100/month. Ended up getting Direct TV now tho. There's no Android TV app but it does stream with Chromecast so it still works.

Had a decent ordeal setting it up tho.

Did everything online and got confirmation that my Apple TV order was set and would be delivered in 2-3 weeks. I wasn't trying to wait no 3 weeks for something I paid in advance 3 months so speaking with a rep on chat I was told if I found a location with an Apple TV in stock I could just go pick one up, cool. Drive out to a location to find out they can't give me one because I set I up online and I'd have to wait. So now I'm a lil pissed but I move on and order my Mi Box online for pick up at walmart and I waited for bout an hour in my truck and order status didn't change so I went home. While at home tried to watch some Atlanta real quick but it kept telling me I wasn't signed up for the package. No channels worked. Did the chat again to find out that on their side they never received a payment and that I was on FreeView and would have to cancel to try again. So I cancelled the first one and set up another in a store (took like 10 minutes) and had to buy a Mi Box personally in Wal Mart cause my online order was still "pending" and ended up cancelling that.

Just sold my Apple TV for $115 too

TMobile usually has a deal on a really good router if yall looking for one.

Sometimes they give it for free if you're already an existing customer.

I live in Comcast country and it's the opposite.

slingtv with sports package - $25 a/month

You basically get all the best channels of cabletv in HD, and you get the PAC12 and NBATV as well.  Add an HD antenna for local channels and KODI for everything else, and you're set!  To hell with paying over $100 a month on cabletv
What's a good Antenna?

go to this site first and enter your zipcode to see how far local hd channels are from you:

https://www.antennaweb.org/

then depending on distance, go to amazon and buy the appropriate indoor antenna.  I'd go with a flat non-obtrusive and not an eye sore ;-)  Here is a 50mi HD Antenna:

Yall giving people ways to flourish in here :hat . Ain't no reason for overpriced cable.

Also those free modems are typically trash too. You paying em $10 a month in 5 months you could of owned your own

Sling TV set to debut the AirTV Player, which combines local channels, Sling’s service & Netflix

Reports that streaming TV service Sling TV is launching its own TV tuner box are now confirmed, thanks to the appearance of a landing page for the “AirTV Player” which has popped up on Sling TV’s website overnight. The new device promises the ability to receive local TV channels over the air through a digital antenna, combined with Sling TV’s streaming service and, optionally, Netflix.
