No people who use credit to buy things are stupid. Using credit you wind up paying more for something than you should, unless you pay it off every month beforefinance charges but most people do not do that or they do and then slip up one month because things get tight and thats when it starts to spiral out ofcontrol. Live on less than you make or youll wind up financing that steak, happy meal etc for years. There is a reason we are in so much trouble right now andits because people lived beyond their means.

Dumb. How else is the man supposed to build credit? By paying cash his whole life????

Oh yeah. I bet that would look great on his credit report.

JUST BE RESPONSIBLE. I see where everyone is going with the whole living beyond your means %+*!. People who use credit when they have nothing should NEVERabuse that credit..But THINK for one second. If you don't spend more then your means and are RESPONSIBLE using credit is GREAT. All that good credithistory is going to look great when you're ready to purchase that 1st home.

You'll never exceed your balance with a nonexistent credit card. I use one CC and only use it as a way to track my spending. I will NEVERpay a CC interest for any item I buy through their service. I will let the sucker who pays the minimum on their card every month do that for me and keep thecompany in business.

that's exactly what everybody is telling him to do dude!!!!!!!!!!!!

nobody is gonna give someone a loan if they look at their credit and see that they don't have any credit built...

yes, you can build credit with school loans, etc., but you need to build it while you are young...unless you're down with renting an apt your whole life.

That is the biggest lie put out there by the banks that you need a CC to build your credit. You can do the same by paying your rent on time or early eachmonth. Paying all your utility bills on time. Remaining at the same job for 2 yrs, at the same residence for 3 yrs. You dont need a credit card to build yourcredit to get a mortgage. All you need to find is a lender who does manual underwriting and doesnt just look at your beacon score.

DONT FALL INTO THE TRAP THAT IS CREDIT CARDS. Weve had many a people come on here and make a thread about how they are so deep in debt with credit and some ofthem probably made a thread talking about I just got my first CC.

Please STOP..

- Paying rent DOES NUTHING! 99.9% of apartment, renters don't even report to any of the credit bureaus i.e. Transunion, Equifax, Experian.

- Utit\lities.. HA same as I said above ^^ Light bills, phone bills, cellular bills, gas etc.. ARE NOT REPORTED TO CREDIT BUREAUS

- Jobs.. Yes on your credit report it may say you had a place of employment, BUT THAT INFO IS IRRELEVANT.. Paystubs can show proof of income, and employment,W2's etc..

Getting a mortage is a whole 'nother ball game compared to credit cards, NOT apples and apples you're playing with..

I could go on and on..

OP don't ask for credit card advice from silly chums on a sneaker forum..

Hit up creditboards.com.

Credit cards are not the devil, and they dont neccesarrily mean a person is in debt or going to get in debt..

Yall are very foolish. You should definitely listen to daveramsey.com It may open your eyes a little. He teaches millions of people daily how they can livewithin their means and with no debt but still manage to get a good fixed 15 yr mortgage which he still doesnt recommend but wont fault people for.

Like I said before: All you need to find is a lender who does manual underwriting and doesnt just look at your beacon score. Have a good down payment ie 20%,dont try to purchase more house than you can afford and you dont need to BUILD your credit with CC.

Who's foolish? I would love to hear what you think.

I went to that website. It looks like it was built for fools. The kid who would trade his Dunkaroos and Fruit Roll Up for an old apple in the 2nd grade andgrew up to accumulate 10gs in cc debt because of his abuse of pre-approved cards that were sent to his house and maxed out on online porn probably goes to thattype of website. Who get's into debt that great when using their credit responsibly? Pff, no one.

Seriously though... what does anyone actually need credit for other than to get a mortgage? If you finance a car you're throwing money away. If you payany interest on a credit card you're just paying a stupid tax.

If your mortgage broker bases your rate solely on your credit score, you have a lazy broker and should go to a more reputable company anyways. Come to thinkof it... I'm sort of happy that all these loans are going bad or else I would not have a great paying job at an REO company right now.

Oh and it has also been shown in studies that by using a credit card you spend 12-18% more because you have no emotional connection with spending the money. But hey some people like debt and paying more for something than they should while others like to live on less than they make and pay cash. There is a reasonwhy 70-80% of American are living paycheck to paycheck.

A VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS which is the reason we are in such a crisis economically right now. People living like they make hundreds of thousands a year on a40K income by financing everything and making payments to everyone.

If you consider a surefire way to becoming wealthy crap then I guess you are right.

Don't get it twisted.

So because most people aren't financially responsible you are going to tell a young man to never use credit in his life?

If you want to follow the crowd and live in debt, go ahead and start the CC habit. There are no debt collectors after people paying with cash.

bump

ok so i just activated my first credit card

i tried to do an order through shoetrends. i learned they only do paypal, so i had to make an account for that as well

so when i finally tried to do the order, paypal denied me, saying that i cant use my card for this transaction

after activating my card, am i supposed to wait like 24 hours before actually using it?

if not, what do you think is the problem?

i tried googling and came up with nothing
