NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

Round 2, not really that impressed. I've had better local double IPA's. Id give it a 7.5-8/10.

Yeah I haven't found like a really amazing pumpkin beer that I like. Same with Oktoberfest beers. They're ok. Like if all they've got somewhere at a bar is Sam Adams Oktoberfest I'll be fine with it but I can usually find something else.

In the meantime, having a Port Mongo double IPA in an Allagash glass right now. Probably gonna do the Trillim Pier next

Oktoberfests are my beer. The SA version is so similar to so many others out there. Yet It's like calling a east coast malty ipa an ipa and dismissing everything else called an ipa. Ayinger, SN, weihenstephaner, spaten, and paulaner are all viable options imho.

Just as an ipa has east coast, west cpast, north east juicy, ne hazy, etc, the Oktoberfest is just as extensive.

Speaking of which, when does Ayinger's Ofest usually come here?

I'll give a few pumpkin ales a try.

I had that Schlafly Pumpkin brew tonight and I actually liked it quite a bit. I think last fall I got tired of the pumpkin beers but as my first one of this year, I thought it was really solid.

Ipas went down alright. But right now, birthday bomb tasting ultra sweet and almost awful. Birthday cake batter sweetness for sure. Bomb alone is a beastly beer.

Have you guys had this Kronenbourg 1664?

I had it on tap at a local pub, then a liquor store started carrying some so I grabbed a 6 pack. Tasty white beer with hints of citrus.
I recommend it if you come across it.

Also, I pay $6 and some change for Prairie Bomb! I live 2 hours from Tulsa fwiw.

Loyalty to the Brand (Nike) since the 90's and a previous profession of the alcoholic beverage industry in 2000, this is a crossroad of mine so here's my recommendation if it hasn't been posted for all you milk stout drinkers.

Hands down best in it's class.

How much is belching beaver paying you? :lol

I'm usually not a fan of "flavored" beers, but I actually like it. I can get bombers at Costco for $5 so that makes it that much better.

Nada....an honest opinion with details to follow.

I feel you. Not a fan of flavored beers at all besides an occasional Lindemans Lambic line but this combo of oats and lactose makes this beer and a must try for "drinkers".

I have a couple BB bombs left and they are sweet. Did you happen to try and mix those together? That's my next Prairie journey.
Went with these.
I've had over 80 different pumpkin/Oct-fest beers the past two years. PumKing is easily the best pumpkin beer. Warlock Is great too.

Yeah, my homie hooked it up with a few bottles.

Very nice citrus-y beer -- perfect for the summer

i like Warlock over Pumking...may be my favorite beer that contains pumpkin or pumpkin flavors

However, my favorite pumpkin/yam beer is Punkuccino...followed closely by a local brewpubs (Selinsgrove) pumpkin ale

though, not that big on the style in general

Trying something new fellas. It's become a sort of habit to have 1 or 2 beers after work every evening, or while watching sports. A new goal since I got back from VT, drink only on the weekends. Not that I want to go crazy and make up for the non drinking days. But being out there taught me some things.

Has anyone successfully gone this route? With so many friends,co workers, and such wanting to go out to a brewery to talk or just drink, I feel gym time has to run in excess of 2 hours now.. I just cant manage that. I'm honestly getting fat. I was at a local brewery Saturday who has a great food truck. Carribean Poutine. Hickory smoked pulled pork on a pile of cheesy gravy fries.. Heavenly..

Years back, I couldnt beg friends or co workers to go to breweries. Now I want to slow down? Who's the dumb one?
-------------------------
Is Birthday Bomb usually chalked full of sediment? I couldnt quite finish what I had left in my glass the other night. The morning after, there was about a 1 inch layer of brown sediment on the bottom of the glass. You can sort of see it in the photo I think. If I recall, the entire drink had this sort of sediment in it as I was drinking.. Should I have decanted better? The whole beer was pretty much this hue of brown before it finally settled (which I didnt really notice until the next morning). I like them a lot. But with FBS arriving in stores this week, I am really not looking forward to Prairies pricing. A $10 FBS 4 pack on the other hand is so MONEY.

And with that, I think I will totally pass on pumpkin beers this year. Oktoberfests, wet hopped IPAs, and now FBS is all I need in my life.

I'd like to try these non commercial beers. What's some good strong beers?

I'm not into the fruity sweet crap or honey, sugar, or none of the above.

I just want a nice manly beer to enjoy.

There's a few of us who has cut down a bit. Probably the easiest way to do it is to just stop buying cans/bottles altogether. It's just way too hard to avoid popping open the fridge and pouring that cold, delicious hoppy goodness into a glass....but you can't drink what you don't have. Also, do yourself a favor and get a Hydro Flask (or some other brand of vacuum-insulated water bottle). It's upped my intake of water to a gallon+/day. The Hydro Flask stays at my hip 24/7.

Food-wise: I've been better about making my own meals and keeping it healthy-ish. I think it's portion control that's the biggest issue with weight gain. You can eat your Caribbean Poutine, just don't eat a whole trough of it. You don't have to necessarily calorie count, just be calorie conscious. A teaspoon of gravy probably has as much calories as an apple, so be aware of things like that.
