Like I said, it starts with your sleeping position. I made a comment to a friend who is a doctor, and he literally asked if I slept in the exact way I described earlier. I said "yes" and he said "then stop doing it." Haven't had a problem in over a year, and this was pain that came about a few times a year, and to the point I couldn't walk sometimes.Originally Posted by hustleordie
I had lower back pain come out of nowhere for weeks. After two useless visits to the chiropractor and $100 in co-pays I found out that it was because I was getting a habit of sleeping on my stomach. I went back to sleeping on my side and the pain went away after a few days. I was getting all nervous that I was going to have to deal with this pain for the rest of my life.![]()

I think in my current state, losing weight definitely will help ease some of the 'extra' strain on my back. However, I've had back pain since I was 16, and I weighed all of 90 pounds then...so it doesn't really seem to be weight related. Generally speaking, my back pain is due to playing hoops. The up and down jumping etc really messes up my lower back. I changed my game style from an athletic attacker to a Steve Nash style of game, and this has definitely helped. I have started doing back stretches etc too. I feel I just need to get a proper routine of core and back stretches to do and reallly strengthen my lower back. My lack of flexibility, lack of stretching, lack of core strength etc all combine to make my back hurt I think. Nowadays, even just standing up doesn't feel great on my lower back. The only position that really feels good is laying on my back with the legs up in crunch position.Originally Posted by JayPesoz

while the rest work very well, I can't emphasize this enough. But there's still so many reason as to why back pain happens to someone, this might not even apply to you

What stretching/exercise program do you use, has anything really worked for you? I've had lower back problems since I was 16 or so, mixed with just being super inflexible.
