Official: 2008-2009 Fantasy Basketball Thread *Sticky*

Only guy I'd trade Josh Smith for is Wade out of that bunch.

What a horrible first week for me..

Won 6 Leagues
Lost 5 Leagues
Tied Twice
Two I'm unsure of (FG%/FT%), but I believe I'm winning, so after week one, looks like I'm 8-5-2, MEH.

J Smoov is THAT dude. I get a feeling he plays strictly for his fantasy owners. He pads his stats even if it's at the Hawks' expense. Atthe same time, I think you'd have to accept a trade if someone offered you D Wade...

How much of a risk is Kenyon Martin? I'm trying to trade Thaddeus Young and Ryan Gomes for Kenyon Martin.

hmm, only guys I have that are pretty equal to him are John Salmons and C. Villanueva and I like them both. Thanks for the input though and yeah Kenyon isthat dude but I can't trust his knees.

I'm almost at the point of giving up on Randy Foye already. Should I? I got assists already so would any of these players be more valuable than Foye? Iwould be picking up Josh Boone, Nate Robinson, Q Rich or possibly even Steph, JUST in case he gets waived and signed by the Nuggets (yes I am a big gambler infantasy).. Thoughts?

Picking up Stephon now would like picking up someone who's going to play 1 game this season.

Don't do it.

If you pick up anyone, pick up Nate, he does well in D'Antoni's system.

Yeah he's worth keeping, he'll light up for 6-7 three's some nights.

Ended this week 7-6-1..

Quick couple of questions.

Shaq has been dropped in my league, should I try and pick him up?
I am considering him or Wilson Chandler.
Whose the better choice.

Aslo, about the league itself. Is there any strategy in playign Rottisserie?
Last season was my first time and it was a head to head league.
It was more straightforward than a roto-league so can anyone provide any strategy or pointers in trying to win a roto-league?

Thanks.

I get:
Andris Biedrins
Jason Maxiell
Tyronn Lue

He gets:
Thaddeus Young
Ryan Gomes
Ramon Sessions

equal?

And to the guy asking for roto advice, imo, the way that I won my roto leagues was by not trying to win points or rebounds, try to place middle of the pack inthese categories. Instead, try to place top of the pack in the other categories like assists, steals, FG%, FT%, 3pt made, try to get players that are good ina lot of categories instead of one category, and if you're lacking in one category like blocks, it wouldn't hurt to pick up a specialist like Turiaf.

Oh and in a roto league, I would take up Chandler over Shaq unless you want to just sacrifice FT% altogether.

I don't think that is a good deal. Sessions may get a good amount of playign time whiel Ridnour is out and might keep some of those minutes when Ridnourreturns.
Young just ahd a bad two games but he showed what he could do with his third game and may continue to average close to that.
Lue should belong in the FA list and isn't even worth considering.

As for your roto advice, thanks for the help.
I think my team has a good amount of stat fillers: Butler, J. Smith, G. Wallace and Turkoglu with Aldridge, Bibby and Ford who has their specialties.
I also just picked up Young who I hope provides more reb and points.
I also have Foye, who I was hoping would do much better but I'd have to wait and see.

Anymore roto suggestions?

Tough call I think. Biedrins easily the best player in the deal, but Maxiel and Lue are both waiver wire material IMO. On the other sideyou've got no sure thing, but three guys that could give you some decent production from time to time.

I'm inclined to go with the Biedrins side b/c C is probably the toughest position to field, and he's the best player in the trade. You can drop theother two guys and pick up other good guys that may be on your FA wire.

Oh yeah, and JapanAir...Dirk's calling your name again man. And so is Brand.

Let's make something happen.

Oh, and RFX45:

Stay AWAY from Shaq in a roto league. It's almost impossible to win a roto league tanking one category, and that's exactly what Shaq will do to yourFT%. I'd ride the Wilson Chandler Hype Train for a little bit and see what happens there.

I'd hold onto him for another week, but in terms of trade value what can you get for him?

no one is making any offers right now..

im thinking oftrading him and tracy mcgrady for a decent big, perhaps shaq. i'm desperate for rebounds. i made the mistake of taking too many wing players.

With AI in Detroit, how is Sheed's fantasy value going to be affected? I'm thinking a very small decrease in points, slight increase in assists andmore rebounds.
