OFFICIAL 2010-2011 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD : VOL. MOST. ANTICIPATED. PLAYOFFS. EVER?

I've never seen such an Anti-MVP movement like the one I've seen for Rose.

Like some people seem genuinely mad that he's about to win.

And it's all these same dumb @#$%^ that was votin happily for Steve Nash too.  Weird how that works.

yeah even tho people were going against nash there was never dozens of articles bashing him

I just hate the fact that MVP today only goes to a top 2 team in the conference. Seems ridiculous

What media members were writing article after article against Nash?

NONE...everyone was backing that fraudulent MVP.

Anyway steam seems to be picking up for Bean on the MVP front as well, even though I think our post-All-Star break play has more to do with Bynum than him, but he has set the tone and the team seems to be following suit. I know it's unlikely for LA to go undefeated the rest of the way but if they do end up passing the Spurs which I believe would more than likely give them the best record in the league, will KB get serious considerations?

The biggest fan base on niketalk was against nash + a lot of other people were against Nash so pretending that NT wasn't arguing about it just as much if not worse is silly.

John Hollinger and Dan Lebatard also wrote anti-Nash MVP column and a bunch of others, I remember the Lebetard one said it was because he's white.

You just don't like Nash and like Rose so you remember it differently.

The NT hate was strong but the media wasn't really negative about it. Hell, the hate was so strong on here people were bringing race into the argument.

Yeah, uh, I think he meant media wise though.  Not NT.  NT certainly had a ton of anti Nash buzz back then, but there were not blogs and media types writing against Nash back then.  Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he did mean just NT, but he posted that after Dub mentioned the NY Times article, not just an out of the blue NT observation.

And Hollinger is THEE biggest Nash fan in the world, if he wrote and article about Nash shouldn't be the MVP, I would be extremely surprised.  And I will bet at worst he had him #2.

Jordan Crawford has taken 173 shots in the past eight games (almost 22 a game). 19 more than any other one player in the league over that span.

He has made 67.

Well I thats incorrect Hollinger was and always has been against Nash's MVP award, you don't like Hollinger and you don't like Nash so I think you exaggerate every positive thing he says about him. Nobody except you think Hollinger is a Nash lover.

Also the blogosphere wasn't was strong then as it is now, but I remember most of them being against Nash MVP, Basketballawful, most people on Sonics Central were, I think you are simply not remembering it right.

The major media bought the MVP story with a few dissenters, LeBatard, Hollinger, Bill Simmons I think too. Blogsphere and stat heads were against it, and NT's hate was so storng, much stronger than the Rose hate.

Don't Hollinger and other major writers have archives? Could probably look up their works during that time frame.

but seriously...kid has upside.  In reading some of the comments from Hawks fans on Real GM, they're kinda tight about letting him go for Hinrich.

Yeah I'm not mad at him at all. He's doing what he's supposed to be doing. He sat on the bench all year and finally got put in a situation where he has a green light.

Keep shooting. He has nothing to lose.

So far I have seen Hollinger say he was wrong about Nash, that he's the best shooter of all time, that he's the second best PG, and this was 9 months ago or so, he called him overraed in early 06, why?  Because he had never lead the league in a Hollinger stat, PER.

He said Nash should be an all star this year, he picked the Suns to beat the Lakers in last years playoffs,
And that was just the couple articles I could open.  (too many insider ones)

But yeah, Hollinger doesn't love Nash or anything.

Right Osh, I'm the only one, sorry to talk poorly about your dad.

If not Rose for MVP, who, Howard? Because he's the only one besides Rose who's worthy, and his team's record ain't good enough

The "media" was different back when Nash was winning MVPs. Twitter didn't even exist back then. Now everyone has a blog about everything. Advance stats still scare most people today even though it has been out for a minute.

Rose will win the MVP. It ain't that serious... Hate is a good thing in that regards.

What I find weird and don't like is that there's more of an anti-Rose movement than there is a pro-who-you-think-should-win-MVP-instead-of-Rose movement. I don't think Rose is the MVP but that doesn't mean I don't like him. I actually enjoy his game a lot but the lack of say a Dwight for MVP movement is shocking and it seems to be coming oh so late so there at least could've appeared that there were legit candidates worthy of more than a passing mention. Media got Rose running away with it and that shouldn't be the case.

Pierce should be higher on that flop list.

It was bound to happen with seemingly everyone saying he's running away with it a month ago with a good amount of games left to play.  And yes, why wouldn't people be mad?  If they have a strong enough opinion that is as soundly supported as Howard's case for MVP, they should be upset.  I don't see anything wrong with that at all.  Why are only Rose supporters the only ones allowed to be furious that their MVP that was given to him already is being rightly questioned?

And some of you guys must have very selective memory.  The Nash hate here was over the top those two years.  People were celebrating when Horry hip checked him.  The laughing faces were out in force when Kobe dunked on him in the playoffs.  A LOT of writers were against the Nash pick and wrote a good amount of articles filled with more hate than the Rose articles I've been seeing.  The "hate" for Rose pales in comparison.
