OFFICIAL 2010-2011 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD : VOL. MOST. ANTICIPATED. PLAYOFFS. EVER?

Well they were double teaming the hell out of Lamarcus when the starting 5 was out there since they know Miller and Camby ain't gonna beat em offensively. Look at what happened when Batum moved to the 4 and they took Camby out it was buckets. They need to keep a shooter out there at all time or else they'll be the same old team.

I'm serious man, she's sad as hell right now.  Got her Lebron shirt on, talkin bout "the first game will be great, after that is nothing", then following that up with "worst opening night ever, but tonight will be better"  God damn, soundin like he ain't pay you enough in the settlement or some @#$%.

Spurs fan with her Lebron shirt on, "Miami got this season on lock".  Who the @#$% says garbage like this?

What mean, how so?  That dude is uber talented, and has a MAJOR flaw in his game.  Don't believe me, ask someone why Kobe had 15 rebounds in game 7.  You don't think if kid had a lil bit of a jumper things mighta been different for them?

And to have that MAJOR flaw, and not fix it.

That is sad to me, how can you not see that?

If you shoot with a hand 2 feet from you, you're considered "open" in the NBA.  When you don't have anyone within 5 feet of you, and you don't shoot, what do you call that?  Miami was begging that kid to shoot.  Just like Boston was begging Carlos Arroyo to shoot.  If Rondo starts to take, and make those jumpers, and they have to actually stay on him at all times

  at what they could do.

I see it.  As a Celtics fan, I certainly see it.

Im just wondering how he is able to fix it in an offseason?  Hes always had this problem going back to college.  Actually, hes a better shooter than he was years ago so he has made some progress.  Hes just not a legitimate threat to shoot jumpers.

His season ended in the June.  That gives him roughly 4 months to improve his jumpshot.  There was prolly a total of a month of vacation/time off.  Add in the weeks he spent with team USA and he most likely had 2 months maximum to learn to consistently shoot a jumpshot. Its just not possible to learn and perfect a skill in that short period of time.

He is what he is, and he wont improve his flaws by much over the years.  Somethings can be improved in an offseason but something that requires so much skill and precision is difficult to master.

No I think you certainly can improve a shot in 3-4 months.  Absolutely I do.  For an NBA player?  Come on.

I agree, month off, month or so with USA, so that leaves 2 months or so agreed, but 5 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for 8 weeks, THEN training camp?  That's an awful lot of work that can be done.

And I'm not asking for him to have 3 point range or anything like that, just gimme 15-17 feet.  Like I said, maybe it will come as the season goes along, maybe he just wanted his guys to get shots, maybe he's still not %100 confident in it yet, we'll see, but 2-3 months is PLENTY of time to improve a jump shot.

I know everyone is going to think I'm wrong but having everyone play 10 feet off him helps Rondo, Passing lanes become much more clear and open plus they have sucha  depp rotation with so many scorers, it almost works to their benefit.  If he could shoot, that team wouldn't be the same cause the older guys wouldn't be getting their shots as much and they wouldn't have the same cohesion that they do.  And plus it's not like shooting is something that can be taught over night, *+@% it took Kidd about 20 years to learn how to do it.

It obviously does have a negative effect come playoff time when they need their best creator to do something with the rock and have the option to shoot but for the regular season it is fine.  The man had 17 assists last night for christ sake, I think we'll see him lead the league in assists this year.

Possible about that passing lane thing.  Possible.

And please, everybody, make no mistake, I like Rondo a lot.  I don't mean to sound hateful on the guy, I mean in terms of seeing his game elevate is all.

Last night I was scared the whole entire game for Yao.  I was worried we would step on his foot, or trip him, or something that would cause us be the ones that re-injure the guy.  I don't want that.  The NBA is better with Yao in it, the game needs all its stars out there.  Hope he can stay out there all year, even if limited minutes.  Was good to see him playin again.

I disagree.

2-3 months isnt enough time to significantly improve a jumpshot.... even for an NBA player.

It just takes too much kinesthetic awareness and motor skills to have that ingrained into muscle memory.

Also, its not even feasbile to spend 35-40 hours a week shooting a basketball, especially for 8 weeks.

JVG and Jackson hit the nail on the head. A healthy Houston team will probably be the best team to compete against the Lakers.

In other news, it looks like Shannon Brown improved his jump shot over the summer.

I also liked that he didn't overdribble like he has in the past. He just shot the ball with no hesitation.

Then again, I always thought he was a decent spot up shooter.

Larry !$%%, ESPN.com: Carmelo Anthony, his suitors, and the Denver Nuggets are eyeing each other like the final scene of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," watching to see who twitches first.

PERFECT analogy.
