The jump that he made from good player last year to great player this year is remarkable. He's like a throwback from the days of Moses Malone and Charles Oakley.

maybe he is worth a max contract under the right circumstances. i just know he definitely isn't a franchise player. you can't build around kevin love. I think he can possibly be the third best player on a championship team

I finally get to see my team play in person again tonight, although West is questionable and Ariza is already out.

Don't get me wrong... He's obviously really good...
But he's just not a guy I see as elite (regardless of how good this season has been on a terrible team) and he's not a guy I would pay max dollars to lead a team I'm trying to build into a championship contender... He's just not.
Does that mean somebody won't pay him that way? Certainly not. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if some idiot (Kahn?) did... Just means I wouldn't and I don't see how you can argue he should be compensated among the elites.
But he's just not a guy I see as elite (regardless of how good this season has been on a terrible team) and he's not a guy I would pay max dollars to lead a team I'm trying to build into a championship contender... He's just not.
