Official 2011 NFL Draft Thead Vol. Lions winning.... Niners losing...

Houston Texans

Record: 6-10
Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado

Kareem Jackson should make big strides in his second season, and Glover Quin should improve in his third season. It would be nice to bring in a veteran cornerback to provide depth and stability, but if the Texans are unable to do so, Smith would be a good pick for them at No. 11. A big, smooth cornerback with the strength, confidence and balance to hold up in press-man coverage, Smith could emerge as one of the most underrated players from the 2011 class.

I'm just trying to figure out why McShay has Cobb going in the first round.

DeAndre Brown the #39 best WR in the draft?? CMON Man. Let that man get healthy & run a good time at the combine and he'll be a late day steal

pretty much. id like to see DE/OLB and OL with those first two picks. i assume we'll only be making one first round pick though, and a pass rushing DE/OLB is most important

I'd be surprised if CAm is still around at 10. He's the best Qb in the draft. His stock is only going to go higher as the draft get closer.

Have you seen Deandre run G? He still has a mean hitch.

And idk wth happened between him and his coaches this year, but he was in the doghouse for a number of games. That won't help come draft time. Getting reps as the 4th WR and +@@@.

Jimmy Smith is very good, from what I have seen. But I have not watched a large # of CU games. They were a +@@@ show on O

I want this guy at #10

feel like cam needs so much work before he can run a pro offense. didn't chizik say they only ran like 7 plays, 3 reads: 2 high safety, run, 1 high safety, run or pick a side and throw, no safety, throw. maybe it's cuz he's so big, but chinchilla's footwork just looks so slow, and he was so strong he didn't even need to do a full throwing motion, upper body alone was enough (see the short arm 4th & goal in the title game). none of that will fly in the nfl

People to do not complete passes on Jimmy Smith. He attacks the ball relentlessly. He jams and is physical in run support. Has good straight line speed but he is not as laterally gifted as someone like PP. I love his game.

Patrick Peterson (LSU) and Prince Amukamara (Nebraska) are widely considered the 2011 draft’s best two cornerback prospects. It caught my eye, then, that Russ Lande of Sporting News recently ranked Smith ahead of both Peterson and Amukamara as the position’s top draft-eligible.

Smith left school with only three career interceptions, but a closer look reveals a potential shutdown cornerback. As Gregg Rosenthal put it, “the Nnamdi Asomugha of the Big 12.
