R.I.P. Emmanuel...

:(

I am deeply saddened by this.

R.I.P. to one of the greatest trainers of all time...

I was always hoping he would pull through.

One of the greatest trainers in the history of the sport.

Trained two of the best fighters in the world, Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns and Wladimir "Dr SteelHammer" Klitschko.

He was always a gentlemen.

Apparently Emmanuel's own sister and Andy Lee are saying all the rumors are false.

I saw the tweet from Nigel Collins and assumed that his battle was over. WXYZ in Detroit is reporting that he's alive and under doctors' care.

Disgusting.

Saw the title and my mood dropped...had no clue he was sick.

Damn, RIP Emmanuel Steward. Met him once, got his autograph. Big loss for the boxing community. Sad.

I'll change the thread title back. A lot of good sources were saying it was true, Detroit Free Press to Klitschko.

He trained my 2nd favorite fighter of all time in Tommy, took this kid who never scored K.O's and was, in his words, "At first, out of maybe 10 kids, Tommy might have been the 6th most talented."

He molded Tommy to be one of the greatest fighters at 147 and 154, whose power and boxing skill at these weights are legendary.

Not even mentioning Lennox or Wlad, who make top 15 HW's of all time ( at least in my book).

Thanks for the memories Manny, you certainly made an impact on boxing which really hasn't been seen since.

R.I.P

I'm shocked right now.  He looked like he had another 20 yrs.  Always kept it real on HBO.

RIP Steward.
