Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

The first decent NBA Draft trade rumble of the week involves an All-Star who's no stranger to the speculation game.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls, in their latest attempt to gauge the trade value of All-Star swingman Luol Deng, have had exploratory discussions with Washington about a deal that would land Deng with the Wizards and bring the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft to the Bulls.

The most likely trade construction, if talks were to progress to the serious stage, would send Deng to the Wizards for the No. 3 pick and center Emeka Okafor, who would have to formally opt into his contract for next season ($14.5 million) this week for the trade to go through.

Yet it's worth noting that Cleveland, sources say, has interest in Deng as well ... and there will surely be other potential trade partners to surface if the Bulls decide they're legitimately ready to part with Deng after years of flirting with the idea.

Otto Porter = Deng, would be a horrible trade for the Wiz especially considering how many minutes Deng played last year.

Why would the Bulls want that pick, or Okafor's contract....?
I believe Okafor got at most 2 years left on his contract so aint that bad....and as far as the pick its as simple as bringing in young, cheap talent...imagine if Rose comes back and is himself plus they can get somebody like Mclemore, Oladipo, Bennett to contribute for them :x

The real question is with the Wiz....you only make that trade if you know for sure you got a playoff team for the next couple years

Long-term potential of Beal, Wall & Porter > short term potential of Beal, Wall, & Deng.

It's a total fleece-job by the bulls if it goes through. I'm not seeing how any of this makes sense. Then again, this is the same GM that traded the #5 pick for Miller/Foye :smh:

Sources: Hawks look to move up in NBA draft

The Atlanta Hawks are dangling their two first-round picks for a trade in hopes of moving up in Thursday's NBA draft, possibly as high as the top five, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

The Hawks have the 17th and 18th first-round selections and the 47th overall in the second round. Atlanta has had trade conversations with at least one team picking in the top five, a source said.

After being hired three days before the draft last year, Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has had more time to prepare and make inquiries for this draft.

The Hawks also are intrigued by UCLA small forward Shabazz Muhammad, a source said.

Muhammad recently had a strong workout and interview with the Sacramento Kings, who pick seventh, but is considered a mid first-round pick. He worked out for the Detroit Pistons on Monday, but was hampered by a slight ankle sprain that might keep him from working out with the Hawks on Tuesday, when Atlanta conducts a final workout with several players, a group that includes San Diego State shooting guard Jamaal Franklin, a source said.

Well I'm going to speak regardless.

Everything regarding Cavs picking up Len is smoke-screens. If you can't see that, well...you might've just fell victim to propeganda.

Smokescreens with the #1 pick, that makes no sense lol. They control the whole draft why would they send off smokescreens.

Anthony bennett is 18 pounds overweight...at 261. In fairness, he's been inactive. However, that is a lot of weight gained.

im with most len is a smoke screen going number 1. he is not even working out right now to say he is killing workouts why he is moving up.

Untrue, all of those rumors are coming from Chicago

#wizards don't intend to trade No. 3 pick to CHI for Luol Deng. A source says there is "no truth" to rumored deal: http://wapo.st/11BLnVF

Besides the Cavs, I think the Pelicans and Kings really hold the cards to the draft. They could shake things up depending on who they select.

Chad Ford: how not to draft

Chad Ford breaks down common draft mistakes, one of which is not caring enough about character. On the upside, he says this year's draft is heavy with high-character players like Nerlens Noel, Victor Oladipo, Otto Porter, Alex Len and Ben McLemore.

Chad Ford says one of the biggest mistakes NBA teams make is holding private pre-draft workouts, which he says can do a lot to mislead. He also picks the Cavaliers as the team most likely to get draft day right.

I love listening to SVP and Russillo...

they were saying that BenMcLemore was "less than impressive" in his workout and interview. Also, as other draftees have been working with private trainers he has not. :smh:

Who is behind this kid that is giving his bad advice?

Wizards don't have the money to go after iggy.

Draft Porter, package the 2 second rounders and get a big (Adams, Withey, Dieng, Carmichael) - also re-sign Martell Webster

if Porter is gone, roll the dice on Bennett.

On top of it all, he was out of shape. Not sure what his (or his handlers) thought process was going into these workouts. Why wouldn't you try to be in the best shape as possible to impress?
