horry's possible hof induction is compelling. he does not have the stats for it. however, horry earned his 7 rings. he was a key piece in every one of his championships and contributed to those teams in many games and ways. its not like he rode the bench the entirety of those championship runs. this is a great example of why stats only go so far when judging a players career.

Nah g 7.0 ppg just doesn't cut it. Nope, hell nah. Does fisher get in too then? What about John Paxton? Rick fox got 3 of them thangs what about him? Mario chalmers is a future hof? Really?

I'm assuming that's just a "2014-eligible" list and they were discussing the names on the show...

Exactly. It took years for Reggie Miller to get in after being nominated. So it could take Penny 3-5 years to actually get in.
If he gets in Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Vince Carter are shoe ins and players like Antawn Jamison, Zach Randolph, Corey Magette, Baron Davis, ELton Brand should be considered.
I looked up their career stats and all are comparable/or even better than Penny's

thats a lot of clippers

i don't know if those other players get in or horry. does a player that earned 7 championships and contributed to them (did not ride the bench) get left out because he averaged 7/.425/4/2 in his career? thoughts?

JR need to take a break from social media for a minute. :{

Reminds me of Can't Get Right from Life. Dude tries, just can't get it right. :lol

All the players listed are just potential players that could go on the HOF ballot for 2014.

Yes they all get left out. A career is all encompassing, not just big shots. For most of his career, Horry along with those other guys have been very pedestrian therefore most of the time, they weren't close to HoF players.

Tim Hardaway and Mitch Richmond werent pedestrian at all IMO

It's not your opinion they definitely were not. I was referring to the players who fit the "Robert Horry HoF" criteria. Derek fisher John Paxton Mario charmers Steve Kerr Rick fox guys who didn't ride the pine and helped a team win multiple chips, but for most of their career they were very pedestrian.

This HOF argument can go on forever. I think Penny is borderline. Good point made about your total impact made on basketball. Even still I'm not so sure if he would get in, even though he was one of my favorite players to watch.

Also, Penny might be my favorite player of all time but to mention him and the HOF is absolutely absurd. His hey day was very short lived unfortunately.

He changed basketball culture though..... From his size playing PG to the shoes(even though they had more of an influence later after his career) to the commercials. The overall package of Penny changed Basketball for the better. When the guy was good.... he was good and there was no stopping him.

If changing basketball culture or wearing certain shoes means you're hof then the hof is definitely cheapened to me if it already isn't

I mean did you really just mention shoes? Yikes
