OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

what kind of a league is it? you can make a case for Graham or Ball or Dez
It's a ten man standard league. I currently have picks 7 20 21 34 47 54 and so on..

I was thinking of Dez if I made the trade as well, but I feel like not having a pick from 21 to 48 kind of hurts.

There were high expectations for him last year but it turned out to be an extremely frustrating season for his owners. If this pans out, he obviously won't be putting up Shady numbers, but he could turn into a great value Flex or even RB2, especially in PPR. In current drafts he's being taken in the 7-10 round range.

Damn, 3rd and 7th overall? What'd you make a trade or something. Regardless, you should cook :hat.

In my league you get to pick 2 keepers from 3 different tiers. I actually think I modeled my keeper system off of your league :lol. It's PPR, 6pt per pass TD, and QBs are Flex-able. I was dead set on keeping Stafford with my 5th round pick, and Alshon Jeffery with my 10th round pick. But with the recent news surrounding Gronk's comeback from his injury I'm thinking of keeping him with my 6th round pick over Stafford. I'm torn right now, can't make up my mind at all. I have until late August to decide so hopefully I can make a decision by then :lol.

I have our entire "handbook" with all of our rules and regs if you want it. It's like a 5 page doc lol.

I think a lot of the top talent should be back into the pool since many of the perennial top guys have been kept already and wont be available to keep this year.  Haven't dug that far deep yet though.

Giants setting very lofty goal for Manning: 70% completions this season. His career average is 58.5%.

Yeah if you could send me that'd I'd appreciate it. For the most part I don't change any of the rules in my league but I'm always looking to improve them.

You should definitely be able make out like a bandit if most of the top guys are available to be drafted in the 1st round :smokin.

Section 1: Fee’s and Winner Compensation

A - Entry Fee’s

  1. Until otherwise decided upon by all members - Yearly GAFFA entry fee will be $100 per team to be paid in full no later than Draft Day.

    1. If Entry Fee is not paid in full on Draft Day, such team will be barred from making any and all roster moves until full Entry Fee is paid in full.
B - Payout’s

  1. As per Past Practice - End of year payouts are as follows:

    1. 3rd place - Reimbursement of entry fee

    2. 2nd place - ⅓ of remaining pot

    3. 1st place - ⅔ of remaining pot

Section 2: Keepers (See “Keeper Cheat Sheet” below)

A - Keeper Eligibility

  1. 3 Keepers are allowed per team per draft. 1 player from each of the following brackets;

    1. Rounds 1-5

    2. Rounds 6-10

    3. Rounds 11-15

      1. A player who goes undrafted and is signed from Free Agents will garner a 15th round status if it is decided by an owner to keep that player the following year.

  1. A single player is allowed 3 season’s MAX of Keeper status, once he has run his course as outlined below, he is recycled back into the Free Agent pool to be drafted the following year.

    1. First year of kept status costs the same draft position as originally drafted.

    2. Second year of kept status will elevate the cost to the top of the original keeper tier

      1. In the case of a 6th or 11th rounder being kept for their second year, the player will once again repeat their position at 6 or 11 for that year.  The following year the player will move to the front of the next highest draft keeper bracket as outlined in Rules Section 2-A-3-c.

    3. Third and final year of kept status will once again elevate said players draft cost to the top of the next highest keeper bracket

  2. Regardless of how many years a player has been kept previously, a player may only be kept as a 1st round pick for one year.  Thereafter, the player shall return into the free agent pool.
B - Dropped/Released Players

  1. “The DHB Rule” - If a player is dropped from his original team during the season and has not suffered a season ending injury and clears Waivers - He is then considered to be a Free Agent and will cost a 15th round pick to his new team.

  2. “The Harvin Rule” - If a player suffers a season ending/threatening injury and is dropped by his original team - regardless of clearing waivers, this player must keep his current keeper status. Downgrade in keeper round status will be voted upon by GAFFA Council if the player’s owner is interested in keeping.
C - Traded Keepers

  1. If and when a keeper is involved in a trade, he is to stay on his current keeper schedule.  This means if a player is in his 2nd year on the same team and was kept as a 12th round pick, the following year he will become an 11th round pick and then a 6th in the year thereafter if the owner decides to use his keeper on said player.

*Cheat Sheet is subject to all rules stated above e.g. “The Harvin Rule” and the “The DHB Rule”.

Section 3: Playoffs

A- Format

1. Playoffs will be held during weeks 15 & 16

2. The top 4 teams in the GAFFA regular season standings based upon winning percentage will qualify to compete in the playoffs.

a) If there is a tie between the winning percentage of multiple teams for a playoff position, the tie breaker will be granted to the team with the higher total number of points scored throughout the regular season.

Section 4: Miscellaneous

A- Dead Teams

1. If for some reason a team's owner is unable to maintain an active presence in the league, the team will be ruled "dead." The teams roster will be locked as it stands and no roster moves will be made. Any wins or losses the team accrues the rest of the season will count towards the teams regular season record.

a) “The Bernie Rule”- If the dead team qualifies for the playoffs, the team will be replaced by the team with the best winning percentage of the remaining non-playoff teams.

i) If multiple teams tie for the replacement playoff seed, normal league tie breakers apply (see Section 3-A-2-a).

ii) The replacement playoff team will enter the playoffs as the lowest seeded team, regardless of the standing of the dead team it replaces. Any playoff teams ranked lower than the replaced team will move up one seed higher.

2. The owner of the dead team will face a Board vote to determine the owner's entry going forward.

Miami's o-line is just so bad that it'll be hard to trust him as a RB2. I like him as a flex option

Gronk and Brady both scare the **** out of me this year. If Gronk goes down and you used early picks on Gronk and Brady your season is done for.

how do you guys view those RB's who aren't 1st or 2nd round quality like rashad jennings, lamar miller, joquie bell, andre ellington?

how about those passed their prime stars such as ray rice and stephen jackson?

Who the hell knows what's gonna happen with Rice. Suspended the first couple games plus he was trash all last year.

Jackson has that young back from FSU behind him that they just drafted so I'd be weary of that. Heard he's in great shape right now though.

ellington could be good.  i am staying away from rice and sjax.  i know alot will not agree with me but i am staying away from j.charles.  with 3 new off linemen and a passing attack that does not scare teams i think i am going to pass right now.  my first deeeep sleeper is terrence west. i am not a ben tate guy and i have seen that kid play in college ( towson )he can run and catch the rock.

I'm starting to have an eerie feeling about Ellington. He's the highly touted, most talked about guy preseason, there is one every year. And people buy into they hype and then he gets hurt and burns everyone / doesn't put up the numbers we expect.

I'm getting the feeling that he will go down the same path....

Terrence West is definitely a name to keep an eye on. Also heard a lot of rumblings on Khiry Robinson being the "guy" in NO, but who knows in that offense/backfield.

robinson is a bill parcell hype machine. hard to see anyone being steady week to week. as a flex in a bye week jam....certainly

So in a PPR league are you guys for sure drafting Charles and McCoy over AP? And is it just those 2?

I'm torn with having the #2 pick in one of my leagues

Thats my pick for rookie sleeper RB of the yr. I've been doing a couple mock drafts and I think Im going to stay away from a RB in the 1st rd if I dont get picks 1-4 (McCooy, Peterson, Charles, Forte). Those other rbs seem shakey for a first rd pick. Took a look at the draft from last yr and there were soo many busts in the rounds 1-3.

Draft from last yr (finished 7-6):

I think the best values come from rbs in the later rounds. You can get em late rounds and they tend to have huge upside. Did a mock draft just now and this is who I was able to get. Should have snagged J.Hill but made a mistake.

one thing for certain is you can not win your league with your first two picks BUT you for sure can lose it there.

in your draft you have hill , miller and west with spiller and bell. each one has question marks or a sleeper , would like to have one solid rock guy in that group

people was hyping up Daryl Richardson last year. I fell into the hype and reached for him (4th round). I'm gonna pass on Ellington.
