Because Khan is about that action
The Brook fight is still possible even if Khan gets washed by Canelita.  If Khan would have taken the Brook fight first, and proceeded to get washed, another payday like Canelita, Floyd, or Pac probably wouldn't have been available.

Canelo is a way bigger name than brook. Khan got guts but he mightve bit off more than he could chew.

Didnt know Russell jr was fighting Conor McGregor last night.

Verdejo definitely got touched up more than I thought he would.

But this is the 2nd time I thought he could get a KO and didn't and I'm starting to think he might just be trying to get the rounds in.
I haven't had a chance to watch the fight yet, but his left hand might still be an issue.

TR might better off shelving him for a bit, rather than having him fight again on PR Parade weekend.

Khan would rather risk losing to anyone besides Brook. He would be afraid to go out to the streets in the UK.

Makes sense.

So does this :lol

Just watched Spence/Algieri on DVR.

Great bodywork by Spence and that KO was CLEAN.

I can see it now. Khan vs Brook live from Wimbley Stadium in London England. Carl Froch, Paulie Malignaggi and Jim Lampley are commentating the bout for Sky Sports. Special K comes to the ring first. Khan comes to the ring second being escorted by Virgil Hunter and Leonard Ellerbe. Khan looks surprisingly calm after his upset win over Canelo where he unleashed a 30 punch combination on the former middle weight champion of the world. Round 1 starts off fast. Special K unleashes a vicious body attack. Khan tries to control distance and box from the outside but Special K's pressure is relentless. Special K hits Khan with an uppercut which staggers Khan. Khan goes down. The ref counts to 8 when all the lights go out. The camera wildly pans from right to left. The lights come back on and standing ringside is Leonard Ellerbe with what looks like an urn. Ellerbe opens the urn and khan rises up Undertaker style. Special K blasts Khan with a straight right and down goes Khan again. Khan looks to be out but Ellerbe opens the urn again and Khan rises up again. Special K is clearly rattled. Khan looks dead in the eyes but he seems to gain power from the urn. Ellerbe in his best Paul Bearer voice yells "AAAAAAAMIR DESTROY HIM, YESSSS, DESTROY HIM". Khan starts yelling in the middle of the ring. A yellow aura surrounds him as the ring shakes. Khan keeps yelling when a large explosion occurs. Fans are incredibly frightened. When all is said and done Khan's hair is now blonde and he appears to be glowing. Jim Lampley says, "I've heard stories about this. Khan has turned into the legendary super sayian right in front of our eyes". Khan rushes Special K and unleashes an offensive display like we've never seen before and probably will never see again. Special K is defeated and the earth is saved thanks to Amir King Khan and the rest of the Z fighters.

The 175 lb fight last night and next week on PBC reminds me...what are Adonis Stevenson's whereabouts?

Would love to see Spence Jr and Brook go at it, just not right now. I think the world of Spence Jr but I don't think he's quite ready for Brook. Down the line, say a year or two, I have no doubt they'll be vying to settle just who is the best welterweight in the world.

He's not trying to get rounds in

He's just not that good or still injured

Verdejo looks worse every time I see him

Imagine Canelo vs Spence at Cowboy Stadium
eek.gif
Spence is from Dallas and Canelo has been in negotiations to fight there.
Great fight and you picked the perfect venue

Doubt it would happen cause Spence is big and quick enough to cause Canelo problems

I think Spence would do Canelo just like Hopkins did De La Hoya

Can't really debunk theories with theories :lol

Could have sworn I read that there was a concerted effort for him to get rounds under his belt to make up for all the time he missed with the injury.

EDIT: From Dan Rafael's column after the Silva fight.

NEW YORK -- Lightweight prospect Felix Verdejo's march toward what seems to be an inevitable world title shot methodically rolled through Willian Silva on Saturday night before a soldout crowd of 5,092 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Verdejo, the 2014 ESPN.com prospect of the year, cruised in a one-sided but dull decision, although he added the rounds under his belt that promoter Top Rank wants him to get as he matures.

In the small chance that he really is just trying to add rounds, it's hurting him cause he's failing to impress in any of those rounds and hes slowly losing fans cause he hasn't shown any signs of improvement and he's not even knocking out the low level opposition they've been matching him with

"Small chance" when it's something his promoter has openly discussed?

This dude literally came back from the hand injury less than 5 months ago.

But what would NT be if we didn't overreact to everything :lol

Just cause they said that doesn't mean it's necessarily true, they are obviously gonna back up their guy who they are trying to build into a future star.. Point is even if they do want him to keep adding rounds they'd also want him to look impressive while doing so which he hasn't done.

I've never really been sold on his boxing ability tbh, we'll see tho hopefully he can prove me wrong.

I see a guy who had a pretty solid KO rate. Came back from a hand injury with a 2nd round KO. Promoters start saying they want him to get more rounds under his belt.

Then cruises to 2 10 round decisions in a row.

It's a combination of what they say and what I see.

Clearly there is no way of knowing if I'm right. I just wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it.

I don't disagree that he could still make the fights more exciting. They were both still lopsided victories.

You a Mets fan so we good. :smokin

Why wait when Spence want's it and Brook is growing out of 147?

Great fight for both and Spence said he's willing to travel

Yeaa we'll just have to wait and see bro, I hope I'm wrong cause the kid has look of a star and seems to do everything right out of the ring..

Spence is Brooks IBF mandatory so the fight might happen sooner than we think, unless Brook is scared and vacates. The IBF doesn't play around when it comes to that

Gennady Golovkin calls out Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez: 'Let's go fight'

Gennady Golovkin’s knockout power makes even a Saturday date against little-known Dominic Wade a possible sellout at the Forum and an HBO main event, but it causes great difficulty in bringing him the fights he wants most.

As the unbeaten World Boxing Assn. and International Boxing Federation middleweight champion closed preparations for Wade at Golovkin’s Big Bear training camp, he cast an eye toward a possible future bout against World Boxing Council middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and expressed concerns over the vibe he’s hearing.

With Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones intrigued by the idea of bringing a fall fight between Golovkin and Alvarez to Cowboys Stadium, Alvarez and his camp have mentioned stumbling blocks like the idea that “Canelo’s not a true middleweight,” that negotiations could be tricky – things typically said to maneuver for a delay.

Explaining the Floyd Mayweather Jr. loss three years ago was one thing – there was a major experience disadvantage – but if Golovkin destroys Alvarez as some expect, the “Canelo” brand may take years to recover.

“Yes, I understand that,” Golovkin told The Times. “I understand this decision is maybe 20% Canelo’s and 80% [his promoter], Golden Boy. It’s business, but it’s not respectful of boxing. Everyone says Canelo is a great champion, the idol of Mexico. The idol for what? For boxing? No. Or as a businessman? Right now, he looks like a businessman.”

The 25-year-old Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 knockouts), coming off a unanimous-decision victory over veteran, former four-division world champion Miguel Cotto in November, has his first middleweight title defense May 7, opening the new 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas against England’s former junior-welterweight world champion Amir Khan.

The bout will be fought at a 155-pound catch-weight – the same as Alvarez-Cotto – and Alvarez weighed in just over 163 pounds at his WBC-ordered 30-day weigh-in.

Alvarez, as Mexico’s top fighter, is a greater draw than Golovkin. While Golovkin collected less than 150,000 pay-per-view buys for his October title-unification victory over David Lemieux at a sold-out Madison Square Garden, Alvarez-Cotto brought 900,000 buys and Alvarez’s 2013 loss to Mayweather was the third-most lucrative bout in the sport’s history.

“Anything is possible. Right now, [Alvarez] has a fight with Amir Khan and he’s concentrating on that. We’ll make a decision after the fight,” said Eric Gomez, a Golden Boy Promotions executive. “Gennady’s not the first guy to try and goad Canelo into a fight and he’s not going to be the last. That doesn’t make fights. If he thinks insulting him will make the fight, he’s mistaken. Will the fight happen? It’s going to happen. It’s a matter of when. And we’ll make the fight when we feel it’s the best time.

“Whether that’s after the Khan fight is to be determined.”

Golovkin, 34, says he’s not concerned with the thoughts of careful career timing that promoters consider. The Kazakhstan fighter says Alvarez has a tradition rooted in the legacy of his home country’s warriors to uphold here, to demand the bout that fight fans know he’s obligated to take.

“Fighting Amir Khan, then maybe [welterweight Manny] Pacquiao … hey, listen, Canelo, I have double the championship belts [at middleweight],” Golovkin said. “Make the fight with me. It’s a good fight for us. Not an easy fight. Everyone understands that. But then next … you can bring on Manny or Floyd [Mayweather]. For me, it’s about who’s the best? Who’s No. 1 in the division? That’s what’s No. 1 to me.

“Second is money.”

Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) said he’s striving to unify the middleweight division. England’s Billy Joe Saunders holds the World Boxing Organization belt, but his recent disinterest could force Golovkin to take on new WBO super-middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez in the fall should Alvarez and Saunders go elsewhere.

The Mexico-based WBC has ruled Alvarez has 15 days after his expected victory over Khan to begin negotiations with Golovkin or the belt will be stripped and given to Golovkin. That was the same case after Alvarez-Cotto, but Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler, and Golden Boy's Oscar De La Hoya struck a deal to extend the arrangement.

“Canelo says he’s the middleweight champion. Middleweight is my best weight,” Golovkin said. “Everybody says Canelo’s this great champion. I saw his last fight. Cotto’s not a real middleweight. Great champion, not a middleweight.”

Gomez said he’s convinced Alvarez is not yet a true middleweight, given that his 30-day weigh-in figure is more in line with that of a 154-pound fighter.

“Canelo is not a middleweight … if Gennady really wants to make the fight, maybe we can talk about some catch-weight where Gennady comes down [in weight] and Canelo goes up, but he’s truly a 154-pounder,” Gomez said. “If Canelo is giving up weight, Gennady should, too.”

Said Golovkin: “I’m a middleweight. So let’s settle who’s the best middleweight. Canelo? He’s a big idol … is he really a junior-middleweight? Come on, guys. Let’s fight. You don’t want the fight, I understand, you’re 100% a businessman. So go fight Manny Pacquiao. But I wait, I’ve been waiting … let’s go fight.”

Hey I hope it comes to fruition. I think Brook wins handily however.

But then again, Spence Jr is a special talent. He did black Mayweather's eye in the gym (and Floyd blacked Spence's eye) back in 2013.

He also knocked out Broner during a sparring session back when Broner was undefeated.

Brook just beat his mandatory last month, so Spence isn't his mandatory until next year

Don't think Brook is scared it's that he may outgrow 147 by next year and this matchup is perfect for both

I hope so too but why do you think Brook beats Spence handily ?

Canelita is straight buns.
He's not buns, he just lost control of his career

This is the same Canelo who made the Trout and Lara fights while Oscar didn't want him too

Canelo vs Khan is just a stupid PPV and proof Oscar makes the decisions for Canelo now

Going rounds is fine but why is he going the distance with these low quality opponents he's facing

Why would a promoter want him to go rounds and not get the KO which he is doing

Again, he looks worse every time he's on TV which isn't good
