OFFICIAL 2016 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

The keeper league I run has 7 bench spots + 2 IR but I implemented some new position limits this year to try and curb that kind of hoarding.

Is Ryan Mathews going to continue to lose touches or was week 2 was a fluke?

I'm considering trading him for Doug Martin and see if the owner will bite. I have Charles Sims btw.

@Nickthestick1991  Did you check out the Starboy song yet by The Weeknd

you my dude, saw 'ryan Mathews' in the preview and figured I'd help you out..

obviously you know ryan Mathews is a huge injury risk.. even with that I wouldn't be overly dependent upon him because I could realistically see our GM (who likes to make deals) looking to move him and maybe even sproles

but as an eagles fan, I see at least 3 of our backs continuing to get work if Mathews and sproles stick around (barner being the 3rd guy).. I could see our rookie (smallwood) getting more and more carries by the week

sneaky pickups from the eagles in deeper leagues, trey burton and smallwood.. maybe even barner

I expect us to see what we have in smallwood and barner throughout the season just because of how deep RB is in the next draft.. so gotta see if the cheaper backs on the team could make the vets expendable before next season

burton will be a consistent 4-5 catch guy (even when ertz returns) just because of how much better our TEs are then our WRs.. and then they all do different stuff so makes sense to play them all at once (celek is the blocker.. so trey is the guy you want if ertz is out)

We brought up that discussion regarding hoarding too but elected not to set positional limits. The way we saw it was that everyone has their own idea of how they wanna exploit the system.

If someone wants to roster a bunch of QBs (you can start two of them and it's 6pt/pass TD) and play the matchups, so be it.

If someone wants to load up on high upside backups (like me), so be it.

If someone is comfortable with their starters and wants to roster 3-4 "streaming" defenses for weeks in advance, so be it.

Etc. :lol.

In a way, hoarding in one position hurts you at other positions. So it's a double edged sword.

Obviously that may not work for other leagues, but we all agreed on it.

ESPN calls it "Offensive Player Utility". It's essentially a FLEX that allows you to start a QB. More commonly known as "Superflex". We joke around and say it stands for "Overpowered" if you manage to land two top-5 QBs because they put up by far the most points :lol.

Yeah, I totally get it. That's the way it was for the last 4 years and it didn't really ever become too intrusive or obnoxious.

But we're always aiming to create as balanced and competitive of a playing field as possible so we voted to decide to try and see if this would be the wrinkle that helps achieve that. At this point I'm unsure if it will carry over to next season as it does marginally increase the difficulty of making large scale trades.

Gotcha. I don't think I'd be cool with that, seems like overkill. I was hesitant on 'Bonus Points' for QBs RBs and WR, but I went through with it anyway. QB has to throw for 350+ yards, RBs have to hit 200 yards on the ground, and WR 150 or 200 receiving yards (forgot the exact number I set).

Yea just depends on what kinda league you wanna have. We've been doing this one for like 5-6 years now and everyone loves it. By far the most fun and competitive league I'm in.

In that same league we also do bonuses but only for QBs over 400yds and RB/WRs over 200yds. And it's only a 2 point bonus. Same thing for 50+ yard TDs. I'm not a fan of huge bonuses. I've seen some leagues that are pretty standard scoring wise but then award 10+ points for a bonus. That's almost a full player worth of points in some cases for not so big of a milestone :lol.

:lol i feel like i got the worst situation at RB right now....can yall lend some help and pick 3?

latavius murray
jeremy langford
matt jones
tevin coleman
cameron artis payne
or emmanual sanders

Does Edelman being backup to Brissett affect his value as a WR tonight?

^they said jimmy is suiting up as back up tonight...whatever that means

^ Yeah I'd go Decker too. He's just too consistent. Benjamin probably offers more upside though.

And I doubt Edelman even gets any burn at QB. Maybe a few plays but nothing substantial to where he's gonna miss out on a bunch of targets.

So Ryan Mathews is worthless? He's got 3 TD On the season, that made me happy

:(

His usage in week one where he got me 20 carries got me excited but then his week 2 usage was really weird and got me worried.

@itsaboutthattime  had a good breakdown on their back field situation.

I own him in two leagues. As long as he keeps getting the red zone snaps, he's starting for me.

In the end that's what matters to me, if he can get some TDs I'm cool with it

I'm ****** at the RB position so if his usage goes down I'm screwed
