OFFICIAL 2016 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

Just finished up draft for 12 team PPR league.

Had 5th pick. Was thinking Nuk but guy at #4 took him so went w/ Gurley.

QB- Derek Carr
RB- Todd Gurley
RB- Gio Bernard
WR-Keenan Allen
WR-Jarvis Landry
WR-Randall Cobb
TE-Jordan Reed
Flex-Marvin Jones
Flex-Ameer Abdullah
D/ST-Vikings
K-Chandler Catanzaro

Bench:
RB-Charles Sims
RB-Jordan Howard
RB-Paul Perkins
WR-Kamar Aiken
WR-Josh Doctson
WR-Michael Thomas
TE-Charles Clay
QB-Tan Marino

This draft overall went down with some strange picks lol

Some interesting observations:

David Johnson falling all the way to #10. I could have had him at #5 but got scared to commit to him so I took Gurley. Got a feeling I may regret this by end of season :{

Draft got funky in the meat of the rounds b/c everyone started loading up on RB's strangely (taking guys that IMO were not worth the round spot, guys like Matt Jones and Ryan Mathews going in 4th-5th rounds :{ :x

After that, dudes went ham at TE. This one guy has 3 TE's in his lineup :rollin. Dude is gonna roll with Eifert, Ertz and Martellus Bennett in his lineup as of now. And still thought he needed to use a late round pick on Vance McDonald.

Then towards end of the draft, got funkier too with lot of people taking 2 kickers and defenses each smh.

QB's surprisingly took awhile to start going off the board but once they did, lot of people hoarded 2 QB's.

Finally finished my big league draft. 12 team, PPR. I had the first overall pick...

After deep thought, decided to stop overthinking and drafted Antonio first.

QB: Derek Carr
RB: Eddie Lacy
RB: Demarco Murray
WR: Antonio Brown
WR: Donte Moncrief
WR: Amari Cooper
TE: Antonio Gates
Flex: Emmanuel Sanders
K: B. McManus
DEF: Steelers

Bench:

James Starks
Derrick Henry
Kamar Aiken
Willie Snead
Darren Sproles
Dwayne Allen

Overall, despite getting sniped on a few picks. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, handcuffed both my starting backs and I'd like to believe I have good depth at WR.

Thoughts?

David Johnson has been in on every play after two drives if anyone is still worried about C. Johnson or Ellington taking carries.

Edit: 7 touches on 11 plays

Really considering taking him 5th overall

Got the 11th pick in a 12 man ppr.

Most likely going WR/Gronk unless one of the top 3 RB drop down (AP, D. Johnson, Gurley). Doubt it though.

Devonta Freeman as a mid to late 2nd rounder in a 12-man PPR league...is that still too early to take him?  My first pick was DeAndre Hopkins at 7.

Gonna drop Mariota bc I have Palmer as my starter who should I take out of these guys? Christine Michael, Tevin Coleman, Bilal Powell ,Michael Thomas, Will Fuller or Josh Doctson. Murray and Forte are my starters and WR core is loaded but don't need 2 QB's either :lol

Finished my draft. 12 person +1 PPR keeper league. (Max 2 keepers)

QB: Tyrod
RB: AP / Lamar Miller (Those were my 2 Keepers) Woodhead / Tevin Coleman
WR: Watkins / Cooks / Kelvin Benjamin / Marvin Jones / Will Fuller / Corey Coleman/ Chris Hogan
TE: Zach Miller / Jordan Cameron
Defense : Jets
K: Prater

Thoughts?

Had my main league's draft on Saturday night. 10 team, PPR, 6pt/pass TD, Superflex (QB can be started there), 2 keeper league. I drafted out of the 5 slot.

QB - Philip Rivers (Round 5)
RB - Matt Forte (4)
RB - Melvin Gordon (6)
WR - DeAndre Hopkins (1)
WR - Allen Robinson (Keeper, 7)
FLEX - Keenan Allen (2)
SFLEX - Brandin Cooks (Keeper, 8 )
TE - Jared Cook (15)
D/ST - Patriots (18)
K - none

Bench:
WR - Randall Cobb (3)
WR - Devin Funchess (11)
WR - Phillip Dorsett (17)
RB - Charles Sims (9)
RB - TJ Yeldon (10)
RB - Tevin Coleman (12)
RB - Christine Michael (14)
RB - James White (16)
QB - RG3 (13)

With the ability to start 4 WRs each week, and the fact that it's a PPR league, I made it a priority to have elite talent at every WR-eligible slot. As you can see I kept 2 WRs and continued to hammer them early, going Nuk, Allen, Cobb to start the draft. It's quite a luxury to have Randall Cobb as your WR5. It'll be tough for anyone to beat me at the WR or FLEX spot this year, even on bye weeks. I cooled down on WRs after that, only grabbing 2 over the next 15 rounds. Funchess and Dorsett offer some nice upside.

Other than Drew Brees, Rivers was my top QB target so I was happy to land him in the 5th round as my QB1. As the 11th QB off of the board, I think he'll be a huge bargain this season. I traditionally start a QB at the Superflex slot, and I planned on doing it this year, but I couldn't have been more unlucky in getting sniped with my QB targets. Tyrod Taylor, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill, Matt Stafford, Dak Prescott, and Ryan Fitzpatrick were all drafted in the picks before me in the rounds that I was targeting them. In hindsight, I wish I would've drafted Rivers in the 4th round and then grabbed another QB in the 5th, but oh well. RG3 has a ton of upside in what could be an explosive Browns' offense, but I can't trust him as a fantasy starter yet. I'll be playing the waiver wire for QBs this year.

My only "screw it, BPA" pick of the draft was Matt Forte. I've already stated in here that I'm not a huge fan of him, but to grab a perennial top-10 PPR RB in the 4th round is a win in my opinion. Like I said I wish I would've grabbed a QB in that round, but hindsight is 20/20. I've already stated my love for Melvin Gordon in here too. He's gonna score TDs this year and should siphon some more passes from Danny Woodhead. And if Woodhead were to get hurt he'd be the unquestioned 3-down back. To the outside observer the rest of my RBs look weak, but I love them. Lots of high upside, pass-catching committeemen. Most of them should offer standalone value and if their counterpart underperforms or gets injured they could become high end fantasy RBs. With my WR corps, I can afford to sacrifice a few points from my RBs while I wait for my roster to coalesce.

I'm always a late round TE guy, and Jared Cook fits that mold perfectly this year. Always an intriguing physical specimen with great measurables, but unfortunately stuck on terrible offenses. He could be a stud this year with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball.

All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with my team. Aside from being thin at QB I don't think I have any glaring weaknesses. Should be a fun season.

Think you reached too high for Gio at round 5.

Also not a fan of drafting Latavius at round 4, slight reaches in my opinion.

Would you guys rather have Mariota or Dak as backup QB? I have Brady and Cousins already but thought I'd grab one of them as a potential trade chip down the line.

What is a good defense to go with in week 1?

Looking at Zona at home vs NE

Houston vs Bears?
Eagles vs Browns?

Mariota just due to the fact that Dak will likely only play for 6 weeks which would dimish his trade value.

For sure but they were the best ranked at the time :lol

Got the 5th pick in my 12 team PPR league. Torn between Zeke and David Johnson at the moment

David Johnson.  The kid was a wide receiver in college and is getting all of the early down work. At this point I would think about taking him before Gurley.

I'd take DJ 4th overall in a PPR league after Brown, Julio, & Odell.

Definitely ahead of Gurley imo

Between those 2, DJ is the easy choice for me.

Got my drafts coming up this weekend. feels goodman.

Yeah I'm taking David Johnson over Zeke 10 times out of 10.

I have pick 5 in my standard league and am going DJ over Gurley, Elliot, and Hopkins if he falls to me

I had the 11/12 pick in my draft and Julio fell to me. I scooped him up and then A.J. Green on the turn then Mark Ingram in the 3rd.
