We gunna get finessed .
The cavs are gnna offer something like jr shump and Tristan for Melo Noah.
And us being us we're gonna accept it

Naw, Phil won't take JR and Shump back. They'd probably refuse to suit up while he's here even if that happened.

knicks are the most entertaining organization/ fans....... they should do a 30 for 30 "the rebuild that phil killed"

I was trying HARD to see if the Cavs or Clippers could put together a reasonable deal to grab Melo, and it just isn't possible w/o them nuking their rosters or Trading one of their Big 3 which doesn't help much.

Cleveland would have to give up Shumpert + Thompson or JR (Both players are Huge for this team come playoffs & are both signed to Mav Carter, so you would think moving them isn't gonna be easy to do).

The Clippers would almost certainly have to give up JJ (one year deal so many teams may be afraid), Austin (Coach/GM's son :lol) and Jamal Crawford who would only be useful to a contending/playoff caliber team.

All of these Deals the Knicks get nothing back but role players on 2-3 year deals & maybe some picks.

For a guy like Melo, you will not get equal value, so don't look for it. That would be your first mistake. It's a fire sale type deal due to Phil poisoning this whole thing, it's awful. It's crazy to see that right it looks like you can't get rid of Melo.

We don't have to trade Melo. It's probably best for both sides to move on but we don't have to. It's not like he hs a bad contract or is hurting the team.

Phil should be the one on the way out.

The situation has been intentionally poisoned. He has to go. It's already out there he's being actively shopped AND teams have rejected offers for him. Add continued losing to that and it's all bad. It's one thing if this was all kept in house and out of the media, but they let it out intentionally, they both have to go imo.

Pretty sure we can trade Lance Thomas/KOQ for that same clippers package.

If his value is that low. Dont trade him. Trade Rose, Noah, etc.

Not that he has low value. He's just more valuable to the Knicks than anyone else, but it's a growing bad situation. Teams want him, but they don't want to give up their big pieces for him. Clippers gotta part with Reddick for it to work. They'd be stupid not to.

Then we need to get creative and get more teams involved. This package we're getting from the clippers is by far the worst package we can get for Melo while at the same time showing other teams that "yea he's really not worth much"

We're currently not in a position to get a top 5 pick so its a lose lose situation for us. So just keep him until someone comes correct.

Then do it in the offseason. This is where Phil messed up. He should have kept his mouth shut and not said anything if he wanted to move him. At this point, the Knicks ain't seeing the playoffs. Inconsistent defense, or nonexistent, however you want to look at it, and on top of that....trade talk. It's too much to overcome to try to be a playoff team, and the season is only halfway done. Melo thought he could have his cake and eat it too but didn't pay attention to what was being put around him.

Exactly. At this point the smart move would be to wait for the offseason (around draft time) to move him or start calling teams offering Rose/Noah.

Yes I want to tank and get a top 5 pick in this year's draft, but I really dont think with our current record that we're in a position to do that.

You would definitely get more teams willing to trade in the offseason, there are more opportunities to fleece GMs

. I think Boston is a good spot, they have good pieces and Horford is there. They'd have to give something up. The downside to that is, they still wouldn't be able to beat Cleveland, so in terms of just Melo's POV, idk if I would want to go there if my goal is finals or bust.

We have no reason to trade our best player who isn't an issue. He plays hard consistently does his job. We need to move Rose for a draft pick and stretch Noah.

Why trade for Rose when he's going to be a FA? I'm not giving up guys on my team to rent him. He's showing some flashes of his former self, but he's going to be a high risk player until he retires. He's just going to carry that rep. And...nobody wants Noah at the moment.

. He's high risk too.

This is how bad its become, Celtics told Knicks they arent intrested in Melo

Report: Celtics told Knicks they weren’t interested in Carmelo Anthony trade

The Clippers engaged the Knicks about a Carmelo Anthony trade that doesn’t include Chris Paul, Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan – and New York appears open to it.

Why?

Probably because the other teams the Knicks approached about an Anthony trade, the Cavaliers and Celtics, rejected the overtures.

ESPN:

Sources told ESPN that the Boston Celtics let the Knicks know they have no interest in Anthony.

This isn’t quite the Celtics not being interested in Anthony. It might be that, but this is just the Celtics telling the Knicks they’re not interested in Anthony. It could be a negotiating ploy.

The Celtics could use another scorer, but they also don’t need another subpar defender and should be wary of someone who has too often halted offensive flow. Boston wants to preserve salary-cap flexibility until making a big splash. At age 32, Anthony might not be worth the cost.

It’s also possible the Celtics aren’t interested because of the perceived asking price. Perhaps, they’d be more receptive to Anthony trade talks if they learned New York was seeking less than expected.

Anthony possesses a no-trade clause, so there’s a closed market for his services. The Knicks probably won’t get a massive return for him. Whether or not the Celtics are intentionally trying to lower New York’s asking price, I wouldn’t be surprised if Boston takes another look at an Anthony trade if New York is committed to moving him for whatever it can get, no matter how little.

Celtics have their future PG. The top 4 picks are most likely all gonna be PGs. Plus they have the Nets pick next year. Since they're in contending mode, if there is ever a time to make a move for them, it's with this Melo trade.

I'd literally throw in anyone else on this roster (outside KP, Willy, and Kuz) with Melo for that Nets pick.
