If OKC/NO aint clicking by the AS break Bron is packaging Love or IT with that pick & going for it all

OKC - PG for Love & the First
NO - IT for Cousins & pick

Go for what? Cavs would be idiots to do something so short sighted that ultimately doesn't move the needle at all in regards to GS.

We also got veteran guys playing in contract years, have no incentive to tank next season like the past ones, and will see progression from the young guys, we're not going to be bad enough to convey that pick to Boston.

Nets, Pacers, Bulls, Suns are worse than us right now for sure. Several others likely to join that group as the season progresses.
Pacers and Suns definitely better than you.

Celtics should've got something else since they gave up that pick.

Still, i like the move, we complained all summer about Ainge not moving that pick and when he finally does people still upset lol.

Rather have Kyrie over Jimmy and PG at this point to be honest, especially since they have Heyward.

That's true. But the question should be

Are Irving + Hayward > IT + Butler/ PG?

In 2017 I'm not sure. in 2019 absolutely.

I think this was a mid term goal for Boston. Basically setting themselves up when Lebron leaves while still being competitive today.

We can debate the merits of advanced stats till we're blue in the face, but fact of the matter is that teams targeted IT when he was on the floor. Brad Stevens had to get creative with how he hid Thomas while on defense.

Case in point, this is a quote from Avery Bradley from April:

Maybe some Cavs fans can chime in, but are Kyrie's struggles on defense due to effort, or ability? I can say that IT at least tries...but he sucks at that end of the floor.

Cavs can't be done making moves....they just can't.
you are 100% right about ITs liability on defense. with him, the C's managed to be the best team (record wise) in the east. so regardless of his personal liability defensively, they still managed to win consistently.

the cavs are a differently coached team and they have their own defensive holes to plug strategically. if they can get it together in transition (defensively) and not give up 7+ fg per game in transition and 10+ fg per game in the finals, i think IT will be plug and play. in the finals...maybe a different story though

in addition, i dont think Kyrie "struggled" on D at all. he was average, which in his case, was prob as good as he was gonna get

you are right. IT was 80 of 80 in PG DRPM last season. But, Kyrie was 69th of 80 and steph curry was barely a + at 0.14 although that was good enough to be a top 20 performer in that area.

but what is DRPM? do you know what goes into it? or is it just another silly advanced metric that is used to define a player defensive prowess only to be completely contradicted by the next defensive advance metric created by another pencil pushing geek? (rhetorical)

my aplogies to @pch roadwinder and others who have stated that steph curry isnt horrible on D, he just isnt built to be great at it. because they were right. i was wrong. and in that same way, blake griffin isnt built to be a great rim protector and IT isnt built to be an elite defender. he does stay in front of his man though and gives good effort on the defensive end.

shame on anyone that condemns IT defensively when he had to be the one and only option (offensively) EVERY SINGLE NIGHT but praised Steph Curry for having to be the same.

Wait a minute. Am I missing something here or are you comparing a player with a +.14 DRPM to someone who is a -2.30 and/or -3.89?!

You give Curry props at first and then claim he is in the same boat as IT?

WUT.

Cavs made out unscathed.

Unprotected? :lol wow Cleveland must've insisted.

So basically Kyrie for Marvin Bagley or whoever else.

And the Cs didn't want to pay him so they swap out IT for a younger carbon copy.

Would be absolutely perfect for Boston if that pick was protected. Still a good deal. 3 yr age gap between the two leaves their theoretical window open that much longer

I mean yeah, they definitely insisted. IT is injured and will probably walk next summer.
