Oklahoma will look really clean in the Jumpman. I'm curious to see if they have a Pac12 school lined up as well. I could see Washington or Arizona in Jordan gear

Nah when he was at UO. The loss to LSU and the L’s to Stanford were examples of when that O was stifled because of the OL getting their *** whooped too.

I’ve seen some blame it on Oregon’s S&C program at the time that emphasized speed, but the reality is those guys weren’t very good.

Finding quality OL shouldn’t be a problem at place like UF or A&M tho.

that example he gave was a Helfrich/Frost team
There was also plenty times he played good defenses and ran all over them too.
Yeah those defenses gave him the most issues but he wasn't honestly that great of a recruiter and was having kids play way above their talent level.

question: a big part of Chip Kelly’s success at Oregon was the novelty and uniqueness of his system, right? It wasn’t that opposing teams hadn’t seen a spread, it’s just that they weren’t used to a wide open HUNH run first spread system run at that break neck speed. It seemed like every time they threw the ball it was to wide open players because defenders were so gassed or confused.

We saw this work in the NFL that first year as well, and the. Then completely fail the last 2-3 years.

My question is, how do we know that Chip is going to come in and immediately replicate what he accomplished in Oregon everywhere else that is pursuing him. We know he was definitely ahead of his time in 2007 but is that still the case? He was unable to adapt his offense to have success in th NFL game, how do we know he’ll have success against Saban?

Disclaimer: eye think Chip is an excellent offensive coach. I’m just curious why everyone is so convinced he’s a can’t miss hire and is projecting results for him when we’ve seen some evidence to the contrary?

Feel free to set me straight. I’m not as big an x’s and o’s guy as most of you so there’s probably something I’m missing.

(Trying to do more football talk for 651akathepaul 651akathepaul )

It's his execution of it all. I don't think he's can't miss, but he's proven to master that offense better and more efficiently than anyone. It would be hard for me to use the NFL as a real gauge to anyone catching on with his offense. He killed his own personnel and gutted the talent on that Eagles team. I think there is where his ego got a bit too big and he should now know you still need the right personnel in order to succeed with his style. By right personnel I mean the talent and not approaching it from the standpoint that his scheme makes the talent as opposed to the reality of it all with the talent optimizing the scheme. If he goes to a top tier program, he won't have to worry about the talent and while a lot of teams run the spread, hurry up, pants on fire, whatever you want to call it; Chip still can probably do it just that much better than anyone else. It just fits the college game so much more.

It will remain to be seen until he's back in the game, but I personally think he can do it again. I think at a great program, he can turn results around pretty quickly. He may not reach playoff heights right away unless he has his Mariota and other ancillary pieces, but that's nothing a few years of recruiting won't fix.

I will add that I don't think he should go to the SEC though. Back to the Pac 12 or the Big 12 would be ideal.
