Maybe it’s just the optimist in me. But I’m fine with them not making some huge splash and making the popular sexy free agent moves.

Another 100 plus win season really isn’t going to mean ****. Even without Trea, they still have a stacked loaded team. It’s best if they fly under the radar, make moves which address needs regardless if they aren’t some huge free agent signing, let some of the young talent play, and be aggressive at the deadline if there’s pieces to fill in.
Exactly how I feel.

I’m seeing fans on some of the FB groups I’m on who are pissed they aren’t making big moves because they like shiny objects and name recognition.

I hate to give them credit where it’s due. But look at the Astros. They let Correa walk because they had his replacement internally. Jermey Peña ended up playing well and won World Series MVP. They let Springer walk and didn’t miss a beat either.

The regular season is designed to let young talent play and prove they belong. They can let some of the young guys play and get significant playing time and still win 95 games while being in a much better position going into October.

The Dodgers usually have one of the better farm systems in baseball and are known for their player development. Trust that and let the young talent cook and it’ll pay dividends in October.

I get not going after shiny objects...

But we have lost trea, Tyler, probably belli, and heaney is gone too.

We have lost a lot and not much has happened for us.

I hear you. But I also don’t think those loses are that significant to where it’ll be some major decline.

On paper it looks like a very uneventful offseason. Out of those 4 mentioned, I’m the most upset over Heaney and Anderson. But the deals deGrom and Verlander got, they just weren’t practical imo. Arms will be available at the deadline if need be. Batting wise, Bellinger hasn’t been the same player since 2019 (had some clutch moments in the playoffs in 2020-21 though), Trea was a solid regular season player. Would’ve been nice to retain. But not on another $300 million dollar deal with no trade clause where the back portion of that deal is going to be brutal.

On paper it’s an uneventful offseason. But it’s not the doom and gloom scenario to me that some people are seeing it as imo.

Yeah it's great to feel that way. But to lose those guys with nothing back...

You can't tell me that isn't gonna affect the on field product.

I'm not saying you have to get Judge or the big name arms, but out pitching was short already...

It's getting shorter with Walker gone all year...

I don’t know what they’re thinking behind the scenes. Maybe they’re looking at it as addition by subtraction, and they have alot of faith in some of the young talent in the farm system.

But the on field product has gotten stale imo and was in need of some type of shake up. It’s not normal that you say that about a team that’s won 106, 106, and 111 the last 3 full regular seasons. But it’s been blatantly obvious their formula isn’t working when the games matter most.

I’m sure this isn’t the finished product for them. I’m reserving judgment on them until after the deadline on that end.

give me Rodon, Taillon, Alex Reyes when he's healthy.

give Vargas a shot at everyday 3B

The Dodgers won 323 regular season games and a championship in the last three years. What they've been doing obviously does work and we're foolish not to trust this front office.

We let a guy who hasn't hit his weight the last two seasons walk for $17.5 mil, a guy who kinda blew in the playoffs walk for 11 yrs and almost a third of a BILLION dollars, and passed on an old-@ss pitcher who's playing chicken with Father Time. Losing Anderson sucks because of the injury to Walker, but it seems he just didn't want to stay -- so be it.

I'm excited to see more starts from younger players next year, and like many here I'm pretty sure that Ohtani is our main target, and rightfully so. This kid is beyond exceptional and beyond generational. I've always said Bo Jackson was the greatest pure athlete I've ever seen, but I'm very close to saying Shohei is the greatest pure baseball player I've ever seen -- and likely will ever see. If he ends up in Dodger Blue I don't mind winning a mere 98 games or so in '23.

Something I was thinking too. They don’t need to have a stacked rotation right now.

They need to have clarity rotation wise after the deadline. They have enough talent to where they should be in the hunt regardless going into the deadline. But they’ll have 4 months to see if they have any solid options within the organization who can be a viable option. Let’s see what May and Pepiot can do. May should be better with a full offseason and getting back into routine after the injury. Arms will be available at the deadline, and they deserve the benefit of the doubt to be able to acquire them if need be.

You guys want Farhan back?

So many of you guys were upset he left but he has been garbage for us.

Has he been bad or has there been limitations, up until this offseason, for what he's been able to do? I thought Yaz and Lamont Wade have been good finds, as well as Gausman and Roldan before they left via free agency. What has been some of the busts in your opinion? A lot of my Giants buddies are fed up too, but I haven't followed his moves as closely.

Any chance we get Dansby Swanson at SS instead of someone high-rpiced like Correa or Bogaerts? Maybe Freddie can lure him? I think he'd be quite a bit cheaper and just as good for our purposes :nerd:
