With the lack of acquisitions so far, really gotta hope that May can get back to being a quality starter next year and that Catman’s phenomenal regular season last year wasn’t a fluke.

So uhhhh.... what's the deal with Bauer? His contract done-done, or what?
A decision on his appeal of the two-year suspension MLB imposed on him is still pending, but should be coming soon. If the decision is upheld, Dodgers will be done with him. If the suspension is vacated or reduced, he could still play for us at some point. I'm assuming we'll know before next season starts.

Has he been bad or has there been limitations, up until this offseason, for what he's been able to do? I thought Yaz and Lamont Wade have been good finds, as well as Gausman and Roldan before they left via free agency. What has been some of the busts in your opinion? A lot of my Giants buddies are fed up too, but I haven't followed his moves as closely.
He is turning us into the Oakland A's. It's not a sustainable way to build a competitive team.

Rōki Sasaki heading over to MLB next offseason would be wild. He’d be years away from qualifying as an International free agent, and there’s a cap on how much he can earn because of that stupid 7 year rule.

In years past I would be more concerned and upset at what’s been a rather quiet offseason so far.

I don’t know if the optimist in me. But I got a huge feeling it’s going to be some players on the team who aren’t household names at the moment who are going to be solid contributors next season.

The Dodgers are not pursuing shortstop Carlos Correa in part out of concern that a sizable portion of their fan base would not welcome the move. Correa was the most outspoken member of the 2017 Astros club that stole signs illegally during the postseason, and beat the Dodgers in a seven-game World Series.

The distaste Dodgers fans harbor for Correa, is not the only reason the club is reluctant to engage with him — or for that matter, any of the other more expensive players on the free-agent market.

As the Dodgers wait to learn whether Major League Baseball will uphold Trevor Bauer’s two-year suspension for violating the league’s policy on sexual assault and domestic violence, club officials are uncertain how much back pay, if any, they will owe the pitcher.

Bauer stands to lose $60 million in salary. If his suspension is upheld, the Dodgers will not owe him anything. But if the suspension is overturned or reduced, the Dodgers as a third-time luxury-tax offender would be assessed penalties on top of his salary. As noted by the Los Angeles Times, the team’s total payout could exceed $100 million.

The wide range of possible outcomes is one reason the Dodgers are planning to incorporate a number of young, minimum-salary-type players this season. They want to add a modestly priced starting pitcher, an affordable center fielder such as Kevin Kiermaier and a middle-of-the-order bat — J.D. Martinez would make sense, though a left-handed hitter might be a better fit. But the Dodgers are unlikely to spend big, especially when they know the market next offseason might include two players they covet — two-way Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani and Japanese right-hander Roki Sasaki, if he is posted by his Japanese team, the Chiba Lotte Marines.

it’s honestly refreshing seeing them going into next season without some target on their back and all this pressure.

If all these 100+ win seasons brought multiple championships, I would have a different energy. But 3 100+ win seasons since 2019, didn’t make a single World Series any of those years and only made the NLCS once. I want to see them approach the season differently this year. I’m not really judging the regular season so much off wins next season, but more so on their ability to let some of the young talent play while building chemistry with the vets.

It’s going to be different for the Padres and Phillies now that they’re expected to win. It’s one thing to do it as an underdog playing with house money. But it’s a different animal when everyone is expecting you to win because of the moves you made.

Watch we win it all winning 90 games and barely making the Wildcard  :smh:

That’s how it usually happens in baseball. I remember the Cardinals were dominant in 04-05 winning 100+ each year. They won the World Series in 06 as an 83 win team.

The 2019 nationals won after losing Harper. The 2021 Braves had the worst record off all their teams since they got good again in 2018. When the Giants had their even year run from 2010-14, they never won more than 94 games.

If they win it all within the next few years, it’ll be something similar.
