Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle on his impression of rookie Luka Doncic so far: "When we drafted him, we decided to let him rest for the summer. So he didn't play in the Las Vegas Summer League. I didn't see him play live in person until September. So he was playing pickup games with our guys, and right away I can tell that he's a special player. He's got great size, strength. He doesn't appear fast, but he has long strides. And his ability to do things with the basketball from the skill standpoint keeps the defense close and always off balance." He said at a Shanghai panel on innovating basketball coaching co-hosted by eCoach and Tencent Sports.

For them to take the next step (title contender), he has to be able to threaten the defense from beyond the paint. Having the defense pack the paint against Embiid is awful for Philly, makes them too predictable in the playoffs
 
Ben not being a threat from outside of 5 feet is how this happens in the playoffs against a good team...
