You mean now or before? I don’t see them establishing this defensive identity over the last 5 seasons without draymond.Just my opinion but there a few guys who could replace Draymond and they would still win a championship
Draymond has been a lot better offensively than Roberson and can cover 5 positions which is an extremely special skill. Also if Roberson were even remotely competent on O he would command a big contract.Andre Roberson one of the premier perimeter defenders in the l too and look what he got . Name Them
Just the non Allstars without thinking about it
James Johnson
Julius Randle
Paul Milsap
Al Horford
How you going to name other all-stars, though?
I like the James Johnson mention. I could see it, but don't trust him leading that defense. Randle, no.
I mean he isn't a miracle worker so everyone he works with isn't going to work out 100%. And he blocked bro because bro wasn't really trying to do anything but hate, which is wack.
Drew Hanlen only working on like dribble moves and **** isn't true either.
That being said, he was approached by at least 7 NBA teams to head their player development just this summer alone. Mo Bamba may end up being a top 3 pick just from teams learning that he's working with drew. The buzz that he's picking up leading to the draft is due partly to working with Drew. Jojo, Jayson Tatum, Oubre doubled his ppg, his clients vouch for him, and guys in the league say that his **** works lol he teaches really good stuff and it's obvious, as long as you don't expect him to turn water to wine.
He's been working with Beal since he was like 14 years old. RJ Barrett may be a number one pick next year and he's been working with him since the same age.
Who you are as a basketball player is almost set in stone once you hit the NBA, the vast majority of players at least. It's about getting 5%, maybe 10% better at most, and in that regard you can argue that he does his job.
I was talking players who weren’t Allstars this year
Edit: you sleeping on Randle defensively
I think Randle is good defensively. I just think offensively, he's too much of a post player/face up guy and can't extend the defense. Draymond already struggled extending it, but Randle is non existent. I don't even think he took 50 3's last year

Sap getting 30Ms a year, Horford got maxed, and Randle would be too if LA didn’t jerk his mins around and he still might anyway.Just the non Allstars without thinking about it

There are other facets of the game that heavily influence the end result and are equally as necessary for a title run.A lot of talk about a guy who cant hit a three or make a layup
Who you are as a basketball player is definitely not set in stone. There are a ton of guys that get significantly better in years 3, 4, 5, and beyond.
Gilbert Arenas, Dirk Nowitzky, Nick Van Exel, Deandre Jordan, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Westbrook, Kevin Love, Kawhi Leonard...the list is extremely long.
Also- 5-10% better is pretty arbitrary, I get what you're saying but measuring the impact of a skills trainer can be pretty difficult.
My original statement was that other skills trainers are highly critical of Drew and his methods and they have better clients than he does.
My original statement was also that Hanlen doesn't tolerate any criticism of his work, even when the criticism is warranted. It's pretty lame.
The fact that Hanlen can concoct an impressive workout for scouts watching Mo Bamba and propel him to the top 3 picks also says next to nothing about Hanlen's actual skill as a trainer. You're saying the vast majority of guys get 5-10% better, Bamba is only 2 months removed from college. In that small window, I'm supposed to believe than Hanlen has Harnessed the kid's preternatural talents and made him that much better? I'm not buying that.
In any regard, you can argue that a lot of these guys can work with their unemployed cousins and make the same "5-10%" gains.
Hanlen is Herbalife.
When did he say this? Link to article. Because I remember detailing an article for how the Miami move was planned years before the offseason and how the Cavs used Z's jersey retirement as a tactic to lure LeBron back to Cleveland in 2014.He also said no way Wade, Bosh, and LeBron would play together in 2010.
