8 years ago today... changed the NBA forever

I see a nervous and insecure person with his "decision". LeBron is not the type of person that can hide his feelings through his appearance. He put in work physically but more importantly emotionally.

Don't understand why Kyrie would leave Boston, who are clearly headed for the finals, just to lose on the Knicks. Especially when the unicorn has expressed he doesn't want to be there either. Doesn't make sense.
He wants to be the man.

Still don’t have a problem with The Decision or the choice to televise it the way they did. There was so much interest in where Lebron was going in 2010 it almost felt like it warranted a special. And it undoubtedly boosted the popularity of the league.

I always get a kick out of the pay equality thing ... I spent a good chunk of one college year studying about the income wage gap ... In nearly 93% of cases, there is a perfectly logical, bulletproof and non-discriminatory reason why a gap exists ...

I actually feel sorry for the women in the WNBA and anyone else who advocates for higher or equal pay between them and the NBA ... Not only is that one of the dumbest things ever pondered, it should trigger a mental health exam ...
Agreed.
It's not rocket science, male athletes bring more revenue than female athletes.

There are too many egos on that team. No way will Rondo take a back seat to Lonzo. He might Steve Kerr him if anything. You think Lance or him wanna play with Lebron? Na they just there for the money.

They say winning cures everything, but that team aint winning anything.
Lance reached out to LeBron's team before he committed to make sure LeBron wanted him. I don't know why some of you keep believing the narrative that these guys hate each other. The Rondo signing should have ended this nonsense.

I saw a tweet from Rebecca Lobo saying that the WNBA is on the brink of "exploding" in popularity.

It will be more popular overtime. More girls are participating in sports at an early age than before.

I honestly think it lived its peak when it first started. You had players like Leslie, Lobo, Swoopes, Cooper, etc. It hasn't made much noise since. When you think about it, it's more of a people want to keep it alive for the sake of women's sports. While that's great, it's just not going to attract more people to go out and support it by attending games. 6 teams have folded, several others have relocated. That's quite a bit for only a 20 year history.

What profit tho.

It's a catch 22. The game is growing in popularity because of the WNBA, but the WNBA itself is not a growing business. It keeps having to scale down in order to stay afloat. **** I didn't know they only had 12 teams, and out of those 12, only half turn a profit. What sound logic is there to suggest revenue sharing splits in the WNBA should mirror revenue sharing splits in the NBA? It can't be simply because "men and women are equal".

Once you remove politics, it's basic math. They don't HAVE to play in the WNBA. Why is "having" to go overseas considered "unfair"? It's a part of the reality of professional sports. Somewhere in Puerto Rico there's a ***** hooping in a pro league in a gym w/ no AC, averaging 40 and taking 6 figures back home cause that G-League salary couldn't feed his fam. I'm sure they'd like to stay stateside with their fam too and get paid in a legit minor league.

Tough break *****. That's how pro sports work.

The NBA doesn't have to do this. **** honestly, the argument could be made that they should scale down themselves.

You sound like a colonizer. WNBA players get 22% of profits and NBA players get 50%.

He's just a different type of dude. Look at those stories about Kyrie not wanting LeBron to go back to Cleveland in 2014. He just wants to work on his craft, score and do his thing. I get the feeling that Kyrie prioritizes other things more than winning.

When scrambling for black twitter buzz words goes wrong.

Now give me the context behind why that might be the case.
Profits are profits. They are not asking the best WNBA players to be paid the same as the best NBA players. They are asking for a better percentage of profits. If this needs to be explained I think the conversation needs to end on my part.

What are you talking about? The revenue split in the NBA hasn't always been 50-50. the natural tension in collective bargaining is that the owners and players always want more for their side. The players union can hold out and miss entire seasons if CBA negotiations arent going their way because they have a good bargaining position. The NBA is as popular as it's ever been (heck ppl even care about summer league now). They know they can hit the owners wear accounts, in their pockets.

The WNBA players association has no leverage. Only three or four of the 12 teams are actually generating revenue so them going on strike to having a higher revenue split really has little impact to team owners. If the WNBA players went on strike they would literally only be hurting themselves. Also, being honest would anyone really care if the WNBA we're gone for an entire season?
