Btw WAR Didi 2.5, Machado 2.4.... Must pick Didi over Machado if it's for SS. In a 5 year race, which is really as far as you should look ahead in baseball. Didi will likely be in the same sphere as Machado for probably $10-15mil less a year, and you won't have 5 years more on the deal in 5 years.
2019 is an arbitration year for Didi, should by pass it, sign Didi for 5 year / $110 mil (he'll likely get $12mil in arbitration), get him age 29-33.... Machado will likely get 10 year / $300 mil. After 5 years, he'll have played 12 years with 5 year / $150mil left, even then Machado's deal will likely have an opt out after 4 years, and then we'll get screwed giving him another deal
If they wanted to replace Andujar with Machado, that's one thing. But with Didi for the next 5 years at Shortstop, Didi can hang with Machado on offense, and on defense Didi is light years ahead. Not to mention he's the better locker room presence.
