Nah he still thinks he’s big time but he’s a negative player on both ends at this point, so he wasn’t going to ever play as many minutes as he wanted, and he certainly wasn’t ever starting. So you cut him before he becomes a malcontent. Same reason OKC got rid of him.
I don’t think it was a blame game type of situation. If you sign an aging declining guy for the minimum, he doesn’t play well, and he keeps coming to you to “discuss” his role, you cut him.

Thanks for bringing some logic dealing with them.
And nobody in Houston was scapegoating Melo, that was the national media themselves. And as soon as he was gone, they flipped and pulled the “Melo is being dealt a bad hand” card, including NBA players coming out and saying the same, even though there’s a guarantee those same players would not go to their front office to put in a good word for him.

Anderson was basically an upgraded version of Melo. Still sucked defensively, but could actually knock down shots at a decent clip.
