I can guess at least 4 people in that meeting and one of them definitely wasn't Luke.

Reading between the lines with the leaks over the past few weeks, I'd take a guess they expressed their displeasure with the way the team was built in that meeting and it directly led to this. Magic was all but asked to resign if not directly. He's trying to save face saying he didn't have the heart ot fire people
