Can’t AD simply say I’m only resigning with the lakers and that’s that? Isn’t that a realistic possibility?

if he goes to bos the argument was
"dare him to walk away from title contention to play with old washed lebron"
to any other team its
"one year rental to scheme the lakers off their young talent"

He and Rich all but did that at the trade deadline. Lakers will have the best deal provided the #1 pick isn't on the table. Boston has nothing to offer once Kyrie dips to NYC.

And that’s what I felt AD made it clear he wants to go to LA. So I feel like there’s a good chance it doesn’t matter if anyone gives a better deal.

Why the hell would Celtics trade Tatum and Brown and then have Kyrie leave and then AD leave and end up with nothing.

That Griffin news is HUGE. Don’t he ad Ainge go back to their days in PHX?

The pelicans gm was never the issue stopping a trade to Boston. It's all about Kyrie's free agency, Boston's willingness to include Tatum and AD deciding to commit long term. If anything Griffin increases the odds of a Laker trade because they weren't trying to work with us otherwise

This really is it 100%

I understand that but ain’t no guarantee he’s back with NY next year...

He’s going to want a bag himself

No one is going to give him the max and DeAndre isn't delusional about what he brings to a team. But since they have his bird rights, they could bring him back at any price. Even with his 27MM cap hold, they'd still have over 60MM in space. There is a reason why he wanted to maintain that flexibility and I think it's because he knows they're both coming.

I mentioned it earlier in season, but I think KD gets to NY via trade. So all of this might not even matter, but DeAndre making sure they maintained his bird rights is telling.

Based upon what? I personally feel that he is an intelligent individual, astute observer, capable decision maker.

Is this based off his work on Inside the NBA? Because he doesn’t make any unique observations, he just phrases them well. Everything he points out are things that everyone that’s played basketball enough can notice.
He’s good for TV and he carries himself well but he also took on the “wise old head” role recently so that makes me question how genuine it is sometimes. Felt like he started riding the wave of social awareness.

All the people have reported it's going to take a big number for Lue to come back and coach Lebron given what happened to him health wise last time.

If she fires Rob and goes after Bob Myers or Maasai Ujiri or Sam Presti it's going to take a bag to get them to leave their current posts. And hire another GM as well. Unlike other owners the Lakers are all the Buss family has.
Lue is a championship coach. He's getting a bag regardless.

I think elite basketball ops guys are more concerned with organizational stability and alignment with the Lakers. We already know they can pay whatever. The franchise has been looking like a joke.
