I agree that MDA shouldn’t be the escape goat for the Rockets not beating the Warriors, but he’s not exactly a coach that hasn’t been given a fair shot in the NBA. The Rockets are his 4th NBA head coaching gig. I think he’ll get another HC position, but I think he’s going to be all right even if it doesn’t happen right away.

He maximized Harden's value to the team. Got them to the matchup with GS with a chance to take the series two years in a row.
Really don't think it is his fault for CP3 being so brittle and Harden not playing defense at all. IMO Harden just gets tight in the really big games at the end. Some players/coaches aren't built like that. I watch Coach Cal do it year in and year out in the NCAA tournament.
Don't see them doing any better with the same team and a different coach.

Yeah, so it always makes more sense to gamble on that rather lottery ticket in a bad big man draft than to just pay an insanely reasonable contract to a guy that's already gotten there.

What I meant is that I don’t think all the blame lies with D’Antoni, but I’m not saying the Rockets shouldn’t make a change. I’m not a big fan of his to begin with and never really have been.
Still, I think this Rockets situation is a case of a team that came up short of their goals taking it out on the coach because it’s the easiest thing to do.

I agree. I always thought of mda as the middle man coach. The coach that takes you from the lottery to contention but not to a ring.
I think that he has enabled harden to be the "ball is in my hands or I quit" guy.
It is by his design that the rockets have a 40mil a year 6 foot fire hydrant in cp3 camped out in the corner.
It is his fault that the other players on court don't cut and fill when harden is doubled.
It is his fault that the rockets were unable to put their foot on the gas and blow gsw away after kd went out...or send it to a 7th game at the very least.
