This off-season is going to be a good one. So much long term accomplishments at stake with all these big names coming out. I wonder if any of them are going to hold out their decisions for a few days or drop it immediately like Bron?

I feel like if you’re a big name that wants to win, your best option is to do it ASAP so you can get other pieces together for the squad. I have a feeling there are going to some real surprises.

I also think win or lose and regardless of if he plays or not, KD needs to run it back. The slants are too much either way. I also think if Myrie goes to BK, Philly loses any combination of Jimmy/Tobi/Increased depth, KLaw dips then him on the NYK in the East have a legit shot of taking the conference.

so KD staying, Kawhi potentially staying, Jimmy potentially staying and Myrie to LA or BKN. Cs might as well trade for AD at this point lol

With KD staying, would GSW still be favorites in the West? And I guess if he leaves, it’ll depend on what else happens around the West but would they even have cap flexibility to sign someone else pretty good and then fill out the roster?

So my cap experts out there - is correct to say the Knicks and Lakers have both this summer and next to add stars based on current commitments?

IDK about the Knicks but L.A would only be able to do that next summer if we sign a bunch of 1 year deals & either renounce Ingram or trade him for future picks/an extremely small deal.

So there’s no way to have Lebby + AD and another prime superstar? I guess GSW only has that because they drafted well at a lower cap meaning smaller extensions but now, RIP.

So if the Lakers kept the young core intact, renounce Ingram and sign the super max for AD, that means they couldn’t go over the cap to sign BI because at point he’s a UFA?

Knicks set as long as they dont sign anybody...Lakers main play is Bron/AD, they dont have as much year to year flexibility cuz they got too many young cats thats gon have to be paid if they keep the current squad in tact

Lakers can keep their entire squad - Ingram to sign Unibrow next offseason.

I’m sure they can trade Ingram if needed.

So can the Lakers sign Kyrie and then Trade Picks, Zo, Ingram and Hart for AD?

or not enough cap?

They can do that in a month.

They can keep one of their top 3 assets too (either Ingram, Zo or the 4th pick) and have Lebron/Unibrow/Kyrie as well.

Thank you guys for the informative responses! This why I love NBA NT :Nthat

Best sport forum on NT and one of tops in all of on the interwebz And you can @me on that one.

Don’t get me wrong, but these potential off-season signing seem (and I’m potentially using seem because I can’t really recall each offseason) just get worse every year. Keeping DLo or hitting further on one of those #2 picks would have gone a long way.

If the trade for the Lakers is based off BI’s current salary against the cap, wouldn’t it be smart to trade him now for those PHX picks and then they can get highly touted young dudes (relative to their compatriots) on the roster and null the effect of losing Ball. I’m essentially proposing have 3 Top 10 picks and still keep BI, I understand this is a weak draft but if it frees up cash and all it takes is Zo then it might be worth it.

i dont think the gamble is worth the risk

i mean if theyre up 3-1 going into game 5 do you risk a possible game 7 situation

Once again, I hear it every year about teams dropping games to win at home but have multiple players/teams admitted to actually doing this? I’m not a pro hooper but I would think it’s Dubs W over everything and “**** y’all we’ll see you in Adam Francisco”. **** is too tight and they blew a 3-1 lead themselves

Too much uncertainty to do a trade now or at the very least until they secure a max free agent 1st. That has to be the domino that falls first. You secure Myrie's commitment, then go after AD or whoever'. As for D-Lo if they kept him, he would have had to get paid this summer which limits your ability to add a 3rd superstar like AD next summer possibly. It's a race against the clock cause all these cheap rookie s deals are great until year 4 is up and you gotta pay them like the good players they are.
