Yea but that has no bearing on what the Lakers do.
So this is what some of yall think will happen..the Lakers sign a max free agent in the first week of free agency ("I'm going to take the right time," Leonard said Monday, per the Associated Press'
Ian Harrison. "You don't need too many days to figure it out'). The Pelicans balk and say wait a minute..we assumed this trade would be completed on the 6th, even though we have absolutely no right or reason to assume something like that under the current CBA. The trade literally cannot be completed until the 30th at this point.
So yall think the pelicans will back out of the deal because the 4th pick, who they are likely going to trade anyway, won't be able to play meaningless summer league games and the pelicans value the 4 million in extra cap space and some exhibition games over all the pieces they're set to get in this trade. So they back out of the deal and are left scrambling to find another deal after the draft and in the middle of free agency when everybody and their mama knows the Lakers have by far the best offer and nobody else can come close. And then instead of AD the Lakers would have Bron, 2nd max and all the pieces from the deal coming back meanwhile Griffin would be looking like a damn fool for not just waiting a few weeks.
That's what yall really think is gonna happen? 'What incentive do the Pelicans have to wait?' headasses? That ALA is rotting your brain
