Whiteside on last year of deal not a bad move......blazers culture, leadership, and coaching gonna have whiteside balling like Hood and Kanter.

yeah I'm warming up to this. contract year Whiteside should be good

more Collins insurance too

The irony in KD “finally having his own team” bs is pure disease of me, and buying into media narratives etc.

KD really got tricked out his spot...to chase a situation that he already had before and prove to people something he proved when he was 23 .

They essentially want him to lead a team deep in the playoffs and lose with a mercurial all star PG. As long as it opens a championship window for LeBron...they’re fine with it.

It’s comical.
nah more respect to steph in my book, feel like dealing with KDs personality was a job in itself. Dude did nothing but accommodate, what did durant expect joining another stars team :smh:
Warriors were never gonna be KD’s team as long as Steph was there.

This is different than when Wade basically said Heat were “Lebron’s team” now.

Huh?

If you have cap room, this does eat into the cap though, no? Unless the Mavs are maxed out, this does effect cap space unless the CBA changed.

Don't mind me, we got a stake in your draft picks so I'm rooting for the worst for y'all.

A cap hold is what an unsigned player counts against your free cap space you exceed that as long as you have said players bird rights.

You have to use up all your cap on actual free agents first then sign the guys you have bird rights on and you go over the cap to sign them.

Example KPs cap hold was only 17ish million, if we actually had him sign his deal first half cap space would have been set on fire.

So you sign actual free agents to hit the cap number then you can sign your bird rights guys to exceed the cap.

Its at a point now where the Lakers MUST get Kawhi. Makes me feel like its bound to happen the way the market is drying up.

Also, just keeping an eye on Danny Green. If he makes his move first, we'll know what happened with Kawhi. Chances are, Kawhi news leak beforehand though.

Right, I'm forgetting that deals actually aren't going through yet.

I imagine they'll order it in a way that you use those bird rights to exceed the cap last.

I'm sitting here thinking these deals are more than a handshake right now. My bad.
