I love Melo, but the big thing that separates them is Harden's willingness to facilitate and run the offense.

Melo was also a good rebounder and a solid post defender. In the playoffs every year when he was with Denver

Just speaking on narratives and perception.
Harden is more well rounded.
Plus he is a primary ballhandler.
So that is why him going 4-14 isn't as big of a deal vs. Melo doing it

I think it would have taken him away from what he did best, score.
It would have put more wear and tear on his body as well as gassed him out.
He wasn't built for that.
