Yeah I mean the mindset of blaming the star every time the team fails to win is stupid. Not that it’s never their fault. But trying to blame Steph, Giannis, you know people will take shots at Embiid if Philly loses, you know they would have blamed Kawhi if Clippers lost.. etc.

It’s just a vehicle for people to exercise their hate for certain players.

It’s some dudes in NBA media that only wanna talk about the importance of surrounding casts when it comes to players they like and ignore it with players they don’t. I don’t remember seeing guys like Jeff Goodman, Simmons or Russillo Last year saying “imagine trae with Lukas supporting cast” when the Mavericks had the better roster than the hawks when Trae was out here playing with g leaguers, rookies and the ghost of Vince carter. When Trae had the worst roster it was “good stats bad team guy, empty stats, can’t lead a team, no one wants to play with a guy like that” and ignoring just how bad and not ready the rest of that team was outside of Collins.

I do think that the refs bail Trae out when going against bigger players. Modern refs tend to try to “even out” size. One of the reasons it’s so hard for big players who aren’t shooters to take advantage of big size mismatches is because the refs are just ready to blow the whistle on the flop. You need to have immaculate footwork like Embiid. I wish they’d allow more bully ball.

Sabonis and Valley both play bully ball. Even Jokic will get in there and sling a bow.
