That team had coach of the year, mvp, sixth man, and defensive player of the year. Has any team ever come close to that many individual awards in one season?
I mean if Shake ain’t fall off a cliff early on, the current Sixers had a case for each award this season

Coach - Glenn
MVP - Jo
DPOY - Benjamin
6MOTY - Shake

I know yall hate podcasts but this was a solid listen. As usual CK did a good job of speaking on the psychology/philosophy of sport.

The Ringer’s Bill Simmons is joined by author Chuck Klosterman to discuss Damian Lillard’s future after another Trail Blazers playoff exit, how player movement has shaped today’s NBA, radical ideas to “fix” various sports leagues, UFOs and ghosts, documentaries, and more.

I'm glad he touched on the bs, "JOrdan would never team up" idea that people LOVE to throw out there.

BIG LEEMELONE BIG LEEMELONE

If you added 01 Iverson to current sixers and 93 barkley to current suns, which team is better?

For their current matchups? Barkley would have a greater impact beating up on Jokic on the offensive side. Not sure if he'd outplay Barkley, because of Joker's skillset, but he'd put some weight on the offensive side.

Philly doesn't necessarily need offensive firepower, they need perimeter defenders who can stay in front of Atlanta.

That roster was good defensively and had a small margin for error. That's why they fell off the very next year then lost Mutombo and never saw a finals or ECF again.

Good roster for what the comp was at the time. I post it a million times, but AI himself said in a complex interview that he HATES how people refer to that Sixers team as a bunch of “bums”. They covered for his weaknesses at the time, and allowed him to do what he does best. Get buckets.

Team woulda been straight if they kept Larry Hughes from some years before. But it wasn’t in the timeline. Also, a look at some of the rosters from that season’s East playoff teams/contenders and AI’s contemporaries . Milwaukee probably had the best roster…but was top heavy, with some liabilities on defense. And it’s a reason that ECF went to 7. But yeah….LOOK:

Oh damn...nvm...the clipper ship probably sinking. For their sake, was hoping this was an anomaly.

Reggie gotta be tired of carrying these ******

Fixed that for you. Reggie Jackson being the savior of the Clippers is not something I ever expected.

Lol wut

Philly has 2 of the best (if not the top 2) perimeter defenders in the league. People just roasting Danny Green

01 Iverson moves Simmons off ball and will literally attempt like 20 FTs a game. People forget how fast his first step is and ATL doesn’t have anything to get in front of that

Pacers immediately went into a rebuild on the fly after making the 2000 Finals.

Got back into contention by 2004.

Although this is accurate info, most NBA rosters were pretty much made up the same way. There weren't as many "super teams" as we're used to seeing today.

BTW, that Philly team almost swept every season award an individual can get.

MVP - AI
Coach of the Year - Larry Brown
DPoY - Mutombo
Sixth Man - Aaron Mckie

That 01 Sixers team was SOLID

Too lazy to lookup how the years align but Thib Bulls won MVP, COTY, DPOTY, MIP over at least a couple years. Kinda an overrated regular season *** team to me imo though.

You referring to the 2010-2011 season?

Chicago only had CotY and MVP

DPoY went to Dwight
Sixth man went to Odom
Most Improved went to K. Love

Seldom do we see teams sweeping regular season awards.

They ran into heat than were hit by injuries. Even without rose beat solid Nets team in 7. I wouldn't call them a regular season team.

Yes. This is what I’m getting at. People look back on those Eastern teams of players they like (Iverson/LeBron) and say stuff like, “they carried bums to the finals”.

That’s not true. It mis remembers the team building models of the early to mid 00s. And it’s disrespectful to players who were seen as good/rotational guys then.

Teams of that era were built like:

-One superstar scorer
-one secondary scorer/borderline all star
-defensive stopper
-shooter
-backups/wings and specialist
