Are you Portuguese? Literally no one I know thought he would make a meaningful impact in this World Cup. 70% of fans wanted him on the bench and for players like Leão to start instead, and instead we got players like Dalot trying to become a hero in a quarterfinal.

Foreign fans obsess over him, and other foreign fans can’t stand that their friends obsess over him. Both groups are just bizarre to me, because even today many Portuguese people don’t consider him to be as good or important as players like Eusebio, Rui Costa, Figo, etc.

obviously.

my point is cultural allegiances are a tiiiiiiny bit more complicated than "same landmass = same people"

i know it can be difficult to comprehend nuanced concepts
it's a lot easier to stick with the simple landmass principle.

so don't let me stop you.
We understand that said group might not root for another cause of their cultural affinity(see Brazilians and Argentinians), however, it isn't as widespread as you would think.

Other people would like to see the underdog defeat the bigger opponent. Hence the popularity of David vs Goliath stories. Especially when they are facing teams that are from the West. But I understand this could be another contrarian take from you, so I'll leave you to it.

“it’s inadmisible that an argentine would ref our game after what happened yesterday, with Messi complaining (about reffing)…after what i saw today, you can just give Argentina now the title.”

duh people are rooting for an underdog. obviously. so am I.
but I am not rooting out of African landmass identity.

ah no argument, so the inevitable fall back to "contrarian" name calling.
the train is never late.

you got it man,

i'll be at the nigerian morocco game watch party
gonna be an intense game due to our deep shared african landmass connection to morocco.

If I didn’t have French roots I wouldn’t root for ANY other European National Team. Nope. No way - NOT A CHANCE.

I was born and raised a Portugal and France fan. I didn’t have an option. It came with birth.

Every other European country can SMD. (Y’all know how much I hate the Spanish, Dutch, and English specifically). But the rest can SMD also.

So I get what osh kosh bosh osh kosh bosh is saying to a degree.
See for me. I was born a hater. And historically there’s no one that hates the English more than real revolutionary Patriots other than France. I didn’t have an option. It came with birth.

Huge reach. For the last time: there is NO rivalry between Argentina and Portugal.

India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh root for Argentina:pimp:

Few years ago, I visited my father’s family side in Karachi, Pakistan. My dad told me about a section in Karachi called Lyari aka the mini Brazil. People from Lyari truly love football over cricket. That’s their primary sport. I never got my chance to visit there due to lawless area 😔. I hope I will visit Lyari one day in the future

Strong East African root there. I love cultures tho

And all the talk would be about Kane getting knighted. So yea I’m good on that too.
Beckham would be sick. That man has been desperate for a knighthood for years.

Fool waited in line at the queen's funeral for hours hoping it would increase his chances
