Back in the day, we had some Lieutenant come over as a direct commissioned aviator from the Army giving us a uniform inspection. Ole boy looked Carlos Boozer his hair was so black and he was telling people they needed to fix their uniforms and was commenting on their haircut etc.

Anyway, I ended up switching airframes and he happened to be there and I was talking to my Engineering Officer. He told me, when the LT went to Spain, the guys at the aircraft assembly factory were calling him “the painted one” in Spanish . The sad part was, he was trying to convince everyone it was natural, yet he had grey chest hair bellowing out of his t-shirt.

Anyway, to your point, most times is better just to go grey and age gracefully rather than looking foolish.
