Yeah but in all fairness haalands destination was still unknown
A bunch of clubs slept on him in pursuit of Mbappe. City sorted the deal right after they got bounced out of champions league, basically eliminating any competing offers that may come up if they let the transfer linger until the summer.

Anyone not watching MLS on ESPN missed a 2 minute conversation between Twellman and Champion about Gareth Bale having to take a **** in the 25th minute while he's on the bench.

Which clubs were sleeping on Haaland?

One year right now RM thought they were getting BOTH Mbappe and Haaland.

Everyone wanted Haaland but they all knew it was his decision. The City rumors had been there since beginning, they held the most weight.

Who did clubs treat as a priority signing , Mbappe or Haaland?

Only one club had a shot at Mbappe. RM and RM only.

He wasn’t going anywhere else. And RM were still pursing Haaland while they thought Mbappe was set in stone and Benzema was having a Bd’Or year.

So the priority was clearly Haaland for every club that was lucky enough. City, Bayern, and RM.

Haalands pops was just quoted on 7 clubs being on the list and he broke down how they made their decision. He said Madrid was 4th or 5th on the list because they already had a striker and they(Haalands camp) didn't think it made sense for him. Someone posted the tweet in here earlier in the week. You can Google it. Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea and PSG along with the ones you mentioned. Mbappes camp revealed the 3 teams they were taking offers from and it was PSG Madrid and Pool. Mbappe was priority for all 3. When that fell through, that's when everyone started doing other deals. City picked up Haaland early or else they would have to face competition in signing him.

Haaland took 8 matches to reach 3 hattricks, beating Michael Owen’s record for the amount of PL appearances it took to reach his third PL hattrick.
Lets see how many matches it took Michael Owen…

Oh…

48 matches

If you’re going to talk about Haaland’s list get it right.

1) City (with overwhelming odds)

2) Bayern

3) RM

4) PSG

5, 6, 7-99) who gives a F

"On our list, I think City is the best team," he said. "[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four. We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good. Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are sort of in the same row."

And NO, Mbappe was never going to Liverpool.

Armada Armada was practically in here celebrating when City didn’t get Harry Kane because he and everyone knew that Haaland would be coming. (That was Aug 2021.)

If you guys couldn’t see the writing on the wall for Haaland going to City. That’s fine. Plenty of us did. Once Kane got pushed out the paint it was all Haaland.

I’m not going to let someone who was in witness protection all of last football year tell me this came out of nowhere - It really didn’t.

Coupé It Coupé It why don't you want leao at city?
Pep literally makes every player better.

I don’t have a problem with it. He has to do what he has to do, especially if he doesn’t get paid.

Everyone else should just be scared to death. Those are just facts.

EPL is and will continue to be the Bundesliga if it happens. Those are the facts too.

The father made it clear that the City move only materialized by the skin of their teeth. If Lewa bounced earlier or made his intentions clear from early, Haaland would have been a Bayern player. See quotes from the documentary which is where the tweets are from. City only fit the criteria because they needed a striker. Everyone else had a striker.

“I think it was one point separating the top two with the last calculations,” he said.
“One of the criteria is about whether the club needs a No9. City is 10 [out of 10] in that respect. Bayern Munich gets one point for that – they don’t need a No.9. They have their best player as a No.9 but if he [Lewandowski] goes then they have no one else.

He further added that City made the cut by just 'one point' after 'last calculations'.
