Random, but remember Glasses Ref (aka Jay Stricherz) the awful awful official from the pac 12? Like the worst of the worst? The one who made "Pac 12 refs" a national meme?

Apparently he's now a regular poster on the Notre Dame fan site (confirmed by the 247 board runners) and does superfan post game analysis and breakdowns of Notre Dame games. He's been an active member of their site since 2008.

It explains... a lot.

Real Pac-10 folks know Gordon Riese was the all-time villain. However, that does remind me that about 30 years ago, the Pac-10 hired a new head of basketball officials. His first move was to fire every ref who wasn't from California. Yes, at one point, every Pac-10 referee was from California.

I mean, not quite the same thing but, the NCAA had Missy Conboy -- a Notre Dame athletic department lifer and their deputy AD at the time -- on the Committee on Infractions for the Reggie Bush investigations.

You're in the same conference and your schools are a 4 hour drive away from each other in bordering states

I mean, how often should we play? For 30 years SEC teams had one rotating opponent so you only played Bama, Mississippi State, LSU once every four or five years. Heck, Georgia has only played Texas a&m once and they have been in the conference since 2012 (but I don't hear you complaining about that)

How does every other conference manage it? :emoji_thinking:

Anyway there's irony in you talking about schedules when your best teams rarely ever play each other. By design.

It’s definitely hilarious that ATL’s out of all people is pointing this out

Fining the coaches is an interesting strategy and these are pretty hefty fines.

I don't think it was anything nefarious going on here but Texas did get a relatively easy schedule in their first year in the SEC. This is just how it's going to be in these 18 team super conferences. Two teams in the same conference can have very different schedules. Tennessee, Missouri and Ole Miss got off pretty light whereas Georgia, Florida and Mississippi State get hammered.

Smh I can't believe it's already Ohio St vs Michigan month

It's kind of crazy that the regular season is 2/3 way over already. That being said, twin national championship teams will likely have to play 16 or 17 games so there's still a lot of football left.

With potential chaos that could ensue between the ACC and B1G conferences in a few weeks is it time to reconsider divisions?? We know one division will always be top heavy but at least this could prevent a team getting shafted in a tie breaker situation.

That’s cute of you to use the OOC, conference title games, and playoff games to boost your argument, but let’s look at what we were originally talking about which is the SEC regular season schedule.

2023 UGA regular season SEC Schedule:
South Carolina
Auburn
UK
Vandy
Florida
Mizzou
Ole Miss
Tennessee
