For sure something up with these boxes. It was wild how many I saw that got destroyed in transit to shops.

I believe this is the first time they’ve slapped a weenie swoosh on a retro mold. Better not be a sign of things to come. I’ll happily go back on AF1 sabbatical.

What is the 'retro' mold? :nerd:

The mold has been jacked up since the early 2000's.
In ‘07 they started sewing the eyelets into the liner. Most pairs have kept this.

At some point (2015 maybe) they started giving some pairs a ‘Retro’ designation and put them in a black box with style code 845053. These pairs reverted to the eyelet being sewn over the liner, along with flat tongue, better toe shape and more lockdown. The mold was typically reserved for actual retro colorways but has also been used on other like the Soho pairs and the Kith Knicks pairs.

Very interesting. Could have fooled me, Nike!!

I feel like every AF1 that's released over the past 2 decades has a slightly different shape. Don't know what is what these days. COTM's are decent shape-wise.

Yup. It’s been all over the place lately. Actually improved in a lot of regards. I actually couldn’t care less about the eyelet stitching but for years it was the best way to tell from a pic whether a pair had a flat tongue and heel padding.

Nike is definitely trending up in shape and materials across the board the past few years.

The leather on the tiffany colored swoosh is great on the shoe but the softness of it makes me a bit wary of it getting super dirty from anything that touches it.

Yea this is one of those times where the gr is better than the f&f. The 2018 Parra AM1 was the same way. I have both and would take the gr every time over the f&f.
