Got my BT with black tongue swap in today from GOAT. Super clean. Barely any creasing on the toe box and looks brand new basically. Whoever sold these took care of them which is much appreciated. Can't wait to swap in red laces and wear the **** out of them.

Well, thank you very much. I tried to take really good care of them. I was never totally sold on how the repair shop did the NA tags on the tongues. They could have been stitched better IMO. I was also not keen on the thickness of the tongues compared to other colorways that I had at the time. The tongues are from the black yin yangs but the NA tags are from some black/red lows. I just really wanted some black toes with black tongues. Maybe I'll try them again a different way in the future. Better yet, maybe JB will release them that way.

I still got mine. And at the time dudes were hype for them (was all we had) regardless of JM tongue until JB started rolling out OG NA versions with better materials starting with Knicks. Which at that time, might as well had been considered re-mastered compared to those 2013 Chis. It's funny when I see folks hate on the 2013s NA versions because until they started the whole "re-mastered" initiative peeps where clamoring for a pair of "OG NA" AJ1s, especially Royals and Breds. Now folks hate em, it's funny lol. In regards to those 13' Chis, nobody likes to admit it but as trash as the materials are, they are still an official Chicago 1 retro. So if you love the cw and want em at a good price I say copp em. RIP to your feet though, joints are stiff af

alsa2009 I settled for a pair of 2013 Chicagos myself, got them two years ago used off ebay. They look the part, and due to the supersmooth synthetic leather, they're really easy to clean and keep clean. They are indeed very stiff, but I didn't find them to be that much more uncomfortable than any other 1s I've owned. If you can get a pair for $100-120 I think they're worth it - I also don't think 2015 Chicago 1s are worth $300+ deadstock, but that's merely my opinion and not market price.

The only 1s I had that were stiffer than 2013 Chicagos were 2009 DTRT pack purple metallics. Thought that tumbled leather = soft, quality leather? Wrong. Embrace this time of multitudes of 1 retro's with Nike Air tongues and no jumpman because those 2007-2013 days of 1s were awful.

Yeah but there growth solely lies with BOOST technology. If Adidas make a shoe without boost the sales aren't that great. In my opinion Boost and collaborations keeps Adidas a float and to me it's boring. Flipping sides, it's like Nike finding a new technology....let's just say Air Max....and they start making all their new release shoes with air bubbles... Eventually boost will die out and all this Adidas talk will cease. Lol...

You realize Adidas sold more Adidas Superstars than ANY other shoes in 2016, right? BOOST has helped the brand in value but it's not like non-BOOST models don't sell.

I would say within 3 years engineers will design cushioning more advanced than boost technology. In 5 years retail will be dead, moving onto direct to consumer. Will be interesting to see what will happen then...

Yeah but where is the equivalent of BOOST or Futurecraft? I'd love to see some FKRs or OG AJ1s with this tech.

Why would you buy these poor man's/borderline fugazi Chis? Just save up the extra cash and get 2015s-these won't give you the same feeling as wearing the shoes you REALLY want will.

Super Stars doing numbers isn't a new phenomenon, they've always performed well regardless of adidas hype status. Boost does okay at the scale it's being pushed right now, but boost shoes aren't doing numbers. Not a single boost shoe has ever cracked the top 10 list, and yet the hair Jordan 6 was the best selling shoe of Q1 this year. Context is way different inside sneaker themed spaces like Nike talk. I'd be willing to be that alpha bounce does more numbers than any boost model.

Why does Nike need an equivalent though? To keep sneaker heads happy? You have to keep scale and Volume in mind when you think about what a company like Nike does and what a company like adidas does when it comes to innovation and tech. The fact that the superstar is adidas top selling shoe, and that adidas is in competition with sketchers for the distant #2 spot in sneaker maket share should tell you something about what the majority of shoe consumers are buying.

I think a lot of people see this whole adidas vs. Nike thing as a an adidas is taking from Nike thing and that's not really the case in my opinion. Nike is suffering because they've been so invested in basketball shoes crossing over (pun intended) into the casual space and people just aren't buying basket ball shoes like they used too. That's got nothing to do with adidas.


At the end of the day if another brand starts putting out something good, that just means I'm buying more shoes in addition to the shoes I like already. As a consumer, if I already have adidas giving me boost, why do I need it from Nike as well?
