The Black Toes are back on GOAT.... lol. I want em but now it's kinda meh.... such a weird space to be in for me as a sneakerhead, all these releases, we see em everyday on our phones.... so much so that when they drop, I can't even get excited anymore. This release/unrelease was a lil exciting last week with the spillage of pairs and Nike postponement. Just to have something before most. But the candle is kinda going out.

It’s simply because Nike/JB flooded the market with OG High AJ 1 releases and a lot of the allure of the model has died.

There used to be a time where they would release in similar release numbers that 85 AJ 1s release nowadays.

I remember people camping out for the Barron 1 OG Highs before the Nike Store here in DC opened because there simply weren’t many releases and they would be sought after as a result and the only other options were Jumpman branded mids or highs.

Nowadays you can literally order OG AJ 1 Highs and get them delivered on Uber Eats:

Agreed. I love the looks of my UNC Toe's, but they don't have the same punch as my Chicago's.

Most models never had a Carolina cw and he never wore one in a game (sans XI’s). Anything Carolina is non-essential to me as the shoes were for his playing career in the NBA, not college. Most of them are retro+ too besides the 1's and 2 lows.

They were revolutionary at the time but as we got better shaped 1s, I started seeing the 2011s as pretty ugly. Idk why the softer the leather gets on a 1, the harder dudes get. 2011s are even more awkwardly cut than 2001 "highs" and they have those horrid rolled leather edges.

Very much agree with this take.

I have owned a lot of Bred 1s so I always feel some type of way about never getting the banneds but as time has progressed I know the shape would turn me off of wearing them so I'm glad I never spent the resell.

I like the X on the back lol idk i just hold on to the grails from my fav time in sneakers...them...the 2013 white cements......they all got way better shapes now but it's deeper than that to me lol I'd see em at conventions and drool . Wishing i could afford.

I feel you Belair5 Funny enough with your avatar/name I finally got the fresh prince grape 5s last year. Even tho I think it's dumb they came laceless (I punched my own laces in) I def attribute my love for the shoe to watching fresh prince as a kid. I love the insole they did paying homage to his fit in the intro and your avatar lmao. And obv the nike air

I always found this so strange, weren’t the rolled edges a specific design characteristic used on mids?
